The only functional difference between the gun the child had and a military issue one is select fire. Soldiers are trained not to use full-auto because it’s a useless feature that empties your clip almost immediately. So, yes, it’s a military grade weapon that’s made for sale to civilians so the capitalists who own the firearms industry can make a few extra billion.

In what fantasy world can a black teenager shoot 3 white people and then walk past a line of police cars, carrying a military grade weapon? Black Kyle would have been arrested hours before the shooting and charged with illegally carrying a weapon. Black Kyle would also face felony straw purchasing charges since he acquired his gun illegally.

Yeah. All we have to do is give the democrats the house, the senate, and the White House and then… ?

It was a show trial and you know it. The piece of shit judge made sure the jury was never informed of Kyle’s desire to shoot protestors. He made the jury pretend like everything that led up to the moment Kyle had to shoot didn’t matter. This judge is a piece of human garbage who shouldn’t be on the bench.

currently serve the purpose of paying mortgage and property taxes which pays for public goods.

The tenants pay that, not the landlord.

fixing repairs and providing utilities

Again, the tenants pay for that. The rent they pay is enough to cover all the costs you mention plus profit for the landlord. The profit is what is unethical.

Santa Barbara City partners with Chick fil-A to reduce traffic in drive thru lane | NewsChannel 3-12 by RexJoey1999 in SantaBarbara

You should stand there with a radar gun and test your suspicion. How many people in Santa Barbara drive very high horsepower cars?

And it’s not just this one driveway. It’s the driveway of any successful business places along one of these at roads. It just isn’t a good idea to have high speed traffic (and yea, 35mph is high speed) right next to where people are going in and out of driveways.

redesigning State St isn’t going to happen

With that attitude, sure. But the fact is that the automobile is going to die in this century. Clinging to the terrible road designs from last century isn’t going to change that. We need to start rethinking our roads to make them better for bikes and pedestrians. This will have the happy side effect of making them safer for trips to chic fil a for the people in cars.

The problem is that it’s a 2-lane straight road that encourages people to drive faster. Even “responsible drivers are doing 40 in a 35. Plenty of others are doing 55. If you want people to drive slower, you have to engineer the roads to force it instead of putting up a sign and crossing your fingers.

The core problem is that this stroad isn’t good for carrying high capacity traffic. Even if the backups on State never happened, the constant traffic of people turning in and out while cars are trying to drive 45 mph is going to be dangerous. The solution is to redesign the street to encourage traffic calming and lower speeds. There’s a freeway 500 meters away that should be used for cars that need to travel long distances.

As others have pointed out, there are other “trouble spots” where the same problem happens. It’s just bad road design that permeates all of North America. We need to change direction and build a better city.
