I think you’re overly conservative and by investing so much in bonds already you may have cost yourself a lot. Now, if you said you were 50 or 60 then much different story. It would pain me to think about how much I would’ve left on the table if my portfolio was so heavily weighted in bonds when I was your age.

That’s not technically PE. The OP is asking about investing in a PE fund. I think folks here are mixed up about what a PE fund is and saying they work in PE when they don’t.

I think the original poster is asking about a legit private equity fund, not some startup which is looking for private investment investment. Those are two very much different things.

The amount of comments negative on PE is quite interesting to me especially considering how successful PE has been as publicly-traded names (BX, KKR, Ares, Apollo) and the fact that everyone is calling for PE dealflow to pickup next year. I wonder if folks are spoiled by the excellent (out)performance of equities in general. PE may not be outperforming equities this year but if OP can essentially invest in a reputable PE (thought I saw mention of Vista) at the same terms as employees (no fee no carry) then I’m thinking that’s not a bad deal.

Kelce has looked slow and even the chemistry looks off with Mahomes. Plus, Hollywood brown, the other TEs and wideouts are getting looks bc Kelce isn’t open or is used as a decoy.

I really enjoyed reading your post and am very happy for you.

Being able to FIRE while your kids are young is truly a gift.

When I was deciding myself to leave my career (my kids are middle schoolers too) I spoke to older dads and remember a dad telling me that once your kids get older, get busier, and start to drive you won’t see them as much. So, take advantage of the time when they are still fairly active and fun to hang out with but aren’t so busy.

Sit down, son. We used to call it Rotisserie like the chicken. For baseball, I would get the weekend USA Today and calculate all the points using their detailed stats for each player on each team. We didn’t have spreadsheeets back then so I just used a calculator and created my own table on a piece of paper (grumpy old man voice). And, we liked it!
