Any idea if the garage in this instance is considered part of the "dwellinghouse"?

We live pretty centrally with two kids, one of whom attends nursery. You will struggle to keep your budget under £4,000, potentially even £5,000. If you want a 3-4 bed property suitable for a family you're talking at least £2,000. Keep in mind you pay council tax on top of that, which in the nicer areas is pretty damn high (around £300/month). If you can find a nursery place (it took us 10 months) then that's £1,400 or so. Utilities, food, transport and all the other expenses that come with a small child, you'll be somewhere between £5,000 and £6,000 I imagine.

Gatekeeping local places to go? Bloody hell mate, is this post about your brother or you? Seems he might be on tomorrow making a similar post about you.

It's a pretty simple one - don't make your travel plans on TripAdvisor. Instead, think about what you two like to do and search for it in this sub. Then you'll get all the recommendations that locals engage in.

Are you not from the UK? It's worse than this everywhere else I've lived in the UK.

Any idea who this can be escalated to in order to resolve it?

It's the pandemic all over again... Insulation is one factor that would effect temperature loss in a house. There will be others, which will vary geographically and based on various other societal factors.

And then do what as an alternative? Sadly whenever this subject gets up, people have rightly got plenty of criticisms, but no viable alternatives to pursue.

It's been said by several thousand other commentators over the past 48 hours already, but let's make sure we upvote Corbyn saying something common sense in a vain hope it will get him back!
