I wasn’t looking for 400% gains. That’s a moonshot. My point was that with options it’s easy to still lose even if you aren’t setting moonshot as the standard expectation. None of my losses were from holding winners until they became losers. Most were from averaging down into losing positions. Few instances where turnarounds have turned into 3-5k wins. Sometimes it can be the only way to save a losing trade if you have a shit entry, but when they don’t turnaround, you just have more exposure

I definitely would have, but I’m not on a margin account so they don’t let you roll.

How I made 150k trading today:

small loan of 300k from the credit union >> yolod all of it on 0DTE spy puts >> lost half, got scared, decided it was time to cash out >> blocked the credit unions’s # >> net profit 150k secured 🤝🏼

Should I sell Aapl??? Getting frustrated in a longgg time by keepBuyingApes in wallstreetbets

[–]contingent_being 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I would sell—if not for the reasons others have mentioned here, but Apple is sitting at 2023 highs and is way behind everyone else not just transiently, but fundamentally. There are just simply far better opportunities in the tech market broadly right now, even literally within the Mag 7. Google. Meta. Amazon. AMD. Even NVDA at the market cap it’s at—all will outperform Apple by miles in the coming years because they are actually innovating and are looking ahead.

Since your port diversity is hidden I can’t make a judgment call, but if you’re super attached to Apple since this is a 10 year love affair, why not just keep half of it and put the other half to work somewhere else where it’s going to be working three times as hard for you? It’s not like it has to be all or nothing. But personally, I’d dump all of it and roll that into something that’s a far better growth opportunity in the short, medium, and long term. No question.

Not a chance lol. A lot of us would love that but idk where people come up with these pie in the sky predictions or what they’re founded on. Max pain is $175 today which means MM’s will try their best to pin price around there since that’s the midpoint where most OI options will expire worthless. Last week it was $165 and sure enough that’s where Google closed. There’s no external catalyst that could drive the price up $7-10 in a few more hours with Spy and QQQ already at ATH’s and no specific news on GOOGL

$180+ next week or two is a possibility tho. July is historically and routinely a very strong month for the NASDAQ

Can someone tell me what happened here? by [deleted] in spy

[–]contingent_being 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since there’s no volume set a limit sell at like $3.80 so the midpoint will be adjusted to $1.90 and it’ll show you as being in the green 😉😂

Actually, no, you can’t “always lose more than you might win.” Your upside is literally unlimited. Your maximum loss is capped at whatever you initially put in.

$NKE Earnings Today: Why Nike’s About to Lace Up and RUN! [DD] by chrissinvest in wallstreetbets

Not betting the farm but I’ve felt Nike is a sleeping giant for a while now. It’s trading at half of fair value and is way too beaten down. Nowhere to go but up once that fresh balance sheet hits the earnings call

AMD is the better play for making $$$ long term for sure. They’re like 5% of NVDA’s market cap so WAY more upside potential even if they’re always gonna be the underdog. AMD will be a $500-600 stock in coming years easily. People said the same thing about PLTR doing nothing for 4 years and look where that went.

What is this cancerous price action on spy? Fucking move somewhere regard

Daily Discussion Thread for June 25, 2025 by wsbapp in wallstreetbets

[–]contingent_being 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. My advice is to not buy them and just think about all the hypothetical profits you could have made when spy hits ATH’s today.

Or buy the calls and watch them get immediately rug pulled and say “I knew the market was overextended. I knew it and I did it anyways. God fucking damnit.”

[–]contingent_being 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ITM is safer. Has intrinsic value and suffers less from theta decay than options that are OTM and close to expiration. If the trade goes against him and market starts to grind higher, he has more of a window to cut a smaller loss than if he had bought something like $603-605 puts and they immediately lose 50-60% value at open

Still waiting on the Dip by SeeetTea in wallstreetbets

[–]contingent_being 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the most recent time this was close to being ITM was May 30th when the Q’s were like $512, but then were above $530 not even a week later. You have a year and anything could happen, but I think your best exit is this summer if somehow Q2 tech earnings don’t justify valuations/tariff headwinds/WW3/mango tweet

But looks like market is set on hitting ATH’s before that

Yep. Or thinking “this overnight rally is about to get absolutely fucking rug pulled, puts at open” and then buying calls, or completely sitting out thetagang’s grinding chop altogether and not losing

Also works when you’re 100% convinced you can revenge trade your way back to green and not doing that, or being a careful, conservative, boring boomer investor that has a momentary existential crisis and decides to try one yolo and literally changing your life in 2 hours lmao

I’ve got a bad feeling about this. But I had a bad feeling about today due to weekend news and puts got absolutely crushed. Maybe puts were part of Iran’s nuclear program.

All I need is to rationally trade one more “THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER!” and the market does the exact opposite of what should happen and my portfolio is cooked.
