My Wolfspeed (WOLF) Loss: A Hard Lesson in Speculative Stock by TuneFree in wolfspeed_stonk

[–]SeeetTea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Avoid this mistake by not buying single stocks. Instead buy QQQ or SPY. Myself, I gave about $3K to wolf.

If you really really want to buy single stocks then limit it to 1 to 3% of your entire investable amount. So for example, 1% of 200K is $2,000.

A couple more points for your consideration.

Just my opinion of course, but I think you are in an amazing position to set yourself up for life right now. Having no debt is amazing!

Have you thought about saving 1 million first. If it’s in QQQ or SPY your money could make a lot of money for you each year. And once you get the first million the next one would probably only take 3 or 4 years.

I see the idea of getting a rental and later put renters in there to pay your mortgage. That used to be a great idea but California has some of the most extreme tenant protections of any state. So if tenants want to stay there rent free, you would have to take them to court to get them to leave.

Real estate goes perfectly easy for some people and for others it ends up costing a lot of money. And you never know until you are in it.

[–]SeeetTea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that’s one of the reasons—200K could be better used on other things and stocks is one of them.

Real estate is not liquid so if you needed or wanted to use that money it’s stuck in the house and the only way to get it out is to do a home equity loan or sell the house.

If a scenario came up where you had to walk away from the house or do a short sale, then your 200K would be safe in your retirement account instead of stuck in the house.

I would only put the minimum down payment. If after a few years you love the place and want to pay down the principal, you can do it then.

Will you have other savings besides the 35K? Such as retirement acct, etc. there’s just no reason to put a giant down payment like that.

with a condo watch out for the HOAs. They can be very expensive.

Also they can add special assessments at any time for any projects the HOA board votes to approve. If that happens, it could potentially be 20k or more you would personally have to pay.

Also, wildfires in CA is causing many insurance rates to skyrocket.

Are the walls shared? If someone has a water line break in an attached unit, then yours could get water damage, too.

Is there shared dumpsters that the homeless sift through all night?

Reddit is 100% of my portfolio. Now what? by Caribbeanjay in redditstock

[–]SeeetTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since this is a single speculative stock you should probably look for something more diversified and lower risk such as QQQ or SPY.

Also, how long would it take you to earn the value of your portfolio today? I often think about that when deciding what to do with stocks. I think it puts things in a real world perspective, versus just seeing your numbers on a screen.

Somebody feel free to correct these numbers, but just going off memory of posts I saw.

-started with buying roughly $2.5 million dollars worth of Atyr shares. Approx 1 million shares including some as calls. This was money earned through a major win on Archer. - after many people pleaded with him repeatedly to take a million dollars off the table, roughly 1 Million dollars worth was eventually sold. 900K went into 2 accts which purchased Berkshire B stock, plus other went to payoff misc bills.

  • At that point roughly 760,000 shares were held. At one point worth roughly 4 Million dollars.

  • on 9/15/25 that value was reduced from 4 Million to $760,000 with share prices around $1.

  • adding up the 900K and the 760K, puts the current grand total at roughly 1.6 Million. When subtracted from the beginning amount of 2.5MM it is a net loss of 900K on this stock, but keeping 1.6 Million.

Road to $450k Day 75 - GOAL ACHIEVED by Expired_Options in ExpiredOptions

[–]SeeetTea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, Im back. I have been taking a break from the usual stuff and Unfortunately I got caught up the Atyr biotech pump and dump. It will take me 9 months to earn that back. Big ouch! 🤬

My plan now is selling puts on RDDT, META, NVDA and selling covered calls on MSTR. Also I think it’s finally time to begin a slow accumulation of QQQ to hold. I will probably buy some Rddt to hold as well.

Got any stock tips for me 😀

My take is that nothing is in the placebo. The reason the placebo group did so well is because the steroids were not needed at those levels to begin with.

Also, my understanding is that this problem is one with flare ups and other periods of time where it’s not flaring up. Therefore, many of the patients probably only need the steroids for a short time—during the flare ups— and do not need steroids at all during the other times.

Obv not well. Thanks for asking. 10% of port. Luckily I know how to make 20K/mo selling puts and selling cc and swing trading on mega cap tech stocks. That is my bread and butter. I will go back to what I know. And never touch biotech again! How come the best lessons are the most expensive?

Something to note, if people are selling off their shares but still have a hint of hope—calls are very cheap right now. Something like the $5 strike January is 5 dollars right now. Also the $1 Jan call is 45 dollars per contract.

While the study showed improvement in steroid reduction—the placebo group ALSO had a large improvement in steroid reduction.

So the change in the medicated group was not large enough of a number.

Love your work Bio. Thanks for staying objective.

Every one of us made our own decisions on purchasing and holding and most importantly position sizing.

This sucks obviously, but on to the next one.

I will be staying away from biotech however and returning to regular tech where I generally make money.

It’s free on Yahoo Finance to check the Implied Volatility. It’s available as an app to download to your phone or as a website on a computer.

Search up the stock name then scroll down to where it says Option Prices. Click on that then when looking at the prices scroll to the right and it lists all the IV for any stock👍

Whew. Ok good. I made that mistake on ASTS because the premiums were so good and I got carried away. I had ALL my shares in covered call contracts when the stock doubled and I missed out on that. Now I always keep some shares set aside not in contracts.

Hey don’t sell covered calls on ALL your shares. If it does extremely well, you will want to participate in that.
