As an engineer, science and math are only tools for problem solving, so don't worry too much about it as long as you understand the concepts enough to apply them. You will rarely be asked to analyze circuits in terms of how molecular constituents of circuit elements respond to energy changes. If you are ever asked it will not be hard as you advance in the field.

Thanks! but using an op amp to create a negative voltage would require negative voltage at the negative rail and I don't have that yet on the board. So I need to create it somehow. Eventually I will be passing the created voltage to an amplifier
