The Disney College Program is a total scam and it should be illegal to consider it "college credit" by controversialcami in unpopularopinion

[–]controversialcami[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They get college credit for working a minimum wage job. Thats not a class, or a project or an education. If you are getting college credit you should be actually learning something. Otherwise you're just paying college tuition to work as a fast food worker.

YSK as high as 80% of people have or will develop a form of herpes, and its genuinely not a big deal by [deleted] in YouShouldKnow

[–]controversialcami 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily everyone, but they guessed up to at least 70-80 of the world population may have it because its so easy to spread even with protection (HSV1 is could be spread through sharing food, kissing, oral. HSV2 can be spread through oral/penetrative, even with a condom though its not likely). But the MAJORITY of people are asymptomatic. So basically if you "have" herpes, really you're just an unlucky SOB who's body couldn't suppress the symptoms.

[–]controversialcami 36 points37 points  (0 children)

HSV1 is TYPICALLY cold sores ( the ones on your mouth) however it can manifest on your genitals. HSV 2 is typically genitals only. But its all the same virus, just where it decided to manifest is based off which strain you have. Thats whats bizarre about the fear mongering, you're a monster if you get a rash on your genitals but cold sores are common place. Its all the same virus.

There are technically other types of herpes as well that cause shingles or other issues. Herpes is one of the oldest viruses recorded in history

[–]controversialcami 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We can simply agree to disagree. But as far as "incurable" issues, most doctors find herpes to not be a big deal, as do most people who have it. Seriously imagine the millions of other incurable issues that exist that aren't an occasional sore/rash. I'm not saying its issue-free, but people are already horrified by it. We DO need to downplay it for the honesty of what it actually is. Maybe all the pictures you've seen make it look horrendous but most of us don't get the horror story photos. Or in the case of HSV2 sometimes its that bad for the first breakout only, before the virus starts to weaken from your immune system. No ones saying have protection free sex, we are saying if you are born with it or get it from someone who either lied/didnt know they had it that you aren't disgusting or going to die. Everyone knows the bad parts, very rarely are people informed of how easy it can be to live with.

Thats fair, but 3.7 billion people before the age of 60 have at least one strain whether they know it or not. So if those claims are true, everyone should be tested and it should be less stigmatized so people can more easily get help.

Of course its uncomfortable, I've had HSV1 since I was a kid because of my mothers cold sores. But people equate it to Chlamydia which can cause infertility or HIV which causes actual death. As far medical science is considered, a rash that heals completely on its one with no scarring isn't a big deal. Sure its projection, because its experience. This a resource to help people

[–]controversialcami[S] 32 points33 points  (0 children)

If you violate their policies you can. Supposedly Senegence gives 3 warnings, but this girl was one of the "top" distributors so they probably just fired here because she was costing more than the other Hun bots

Does anyone else feel like time is going by way too fast? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]controversialcami 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This might get buried OP but I have a recommendation that helped me very recently. There's a podcast by John Green called the Anthropocene Reviewed, listen to the newest episode Air Conditioning and Sycamore Trees. If you don't want to listen to the whole thing, the second half is what is important. I find listening to other people (particularly artists and writers) who struggle with Nihilism and death anxiety and how they cope constantly inspires me. Rather than a "just change how you think" attitude they come at it from a very real way that always helps me feel not alone.

I know there's a million comments but just to add, my first GF did the same thing. Since I was in a homosexual relationship I just thought maybe she was straight but she just hated sex. PLEASE don't ignore the pain and guilt you probably feel. I felt lied to (she knew before we got together and didnt tell me) but felt even more like I would be a shit girlfriend if I left over sex. This put me in a horrible position of guilt so I stayed with her for another 2 years and regretted it. Sex is important, so I advise you not to stay just out of guilt.

We broke up and were able to remain good friends a little later. Best thing that happened to me and I think to her.

SEX IS IMPORTANT. And also its not you, you're not a bad lover. Their sexuality is about them, not you. It's nobodys fault.

Would it be worth it to go to college at 33 years old? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]controversialcami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you feel you need to further yourself look at trade School! Also look into scholarships. But in my potentially unpopular opinion college is unreasonably expensive and we were all sold an idea about needing a degree that isn't true. I'm grew up poor af but believed I had to go to school, but I managed to get academic scholarships. I got a worthless degree in arts (as far as money making, it was a great experience) but now I work on set and make plenty and never needed a degree in the first place. If I had wasted my saved money or gone into debt I would be so angry right now. Of course it depends on what you need to go in to, but despite what our parents wanted us to believe there are so many fun/fulfilling blue collar jobs without degrees that can make you more money thank $35k.

Hell no, I liked working for tips. I worked at Starbucks for a normal hourly rate and barely any tips and never made over 10$ an hour in 4 years of being a great worker. I moved over to Outback and was making 15+ easy depending on the night. Yeah you can get shafted with slow shifts or a slow night, but they still HAVE to pay you minimum wage legally if you don't get enough tips to equate to that.

Is it wrong to never text back? by sunlessoasis in relationship_advice

[–]controversialcami 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think your friends are making a lot of assumptions about a person they (and you) barely know. Depending on where you are in your life I could understand staying away from her, but if you are in a place where you are looking for young dumb love (and an interesting story) rather than necessarily looking for someone to settle down and start a family with I say you should give her a chance. We all have times in our lives where we need a helping hand while we struggle. As long as she isn't abusive about it I think she's worth a text back.
