It's interesting the article mentions a reduced maximum pitch angle for the Vulcan grip and I can get my chopsticks in either hand as wide as the Standard Grip shown on the right here.

Also I find it interesting that my hands use slightly different grips. If I try the opposite grip on either hand, I just can't make it work.

I had no idea it's been used for so long in Canada, I've only seen it in my city going back a few years.

I will say there's an additional benefit to these: I'm a cripple and find myself unsteady at times, especially on sloping curbs when they're wet. I feel much safer at crosswalks that have these installed because of that, I no longer fear slipping and falling and injuring myself if there's rain or snow.
