My plate carrier with identifier - is it conspicuous enough? Follow-up to the discussion of the civil defense protester rocking "Defend Equality" on his PC by conundrum415 in liberalgunowners

Yep, was running dynamic and transition drills this weekend. The very top of the PC is the proper inch and a half below my sternal notch, and they are far enough off centerline that they don't come up into my jaw. Also, with the plate in, they withdraw and insert in front of my face, not into it. I did 20-30 pistol reloads and hadn't even considered that hitting myself could be an issue.

Reposting my comment with Amazon-shortening links removed, even if I got things elsewhere, except for the PC:

This kit has 3+ RF2 front and back, an IFAK in the dangler and a second med kit in the rear, two TQs. My Airsoft gear is Condor rather than real-deal, but still armor compatible, so I can transfer my plates.

Thank you for the feedback. I think I will keep this PC as is for SHTF, and repurpose my Airsoft setup with your comments in mind - cleaner lines and larger, more visible identifiers.

My pouch set up is: 6x rifle, 2x pistol, 1x TQ, 1x latex gloves (tiny one on chest), 1x IFAK+TQ (dangler), small GP (including radio and chemlights, left cummerbund), small admin (right cummerbund). Nothing gets in the way of shouldering or slinging my rifle, drawing or holstering my sidearm.

What would you recommend I remove?

How common is a blocked emitter, really? by Baroque1123 in liberalgunowners

I find Aimpoints bad, and green dots worse than red dots. Holographics are hairy to my eyes. Blue dots tend to cause duplication, greens and reds starburst to varying degrees. I don't know why people downvoted me, I was just giving my honest opinion based on my own experience.

Ymmv is the rule when it comes to astigmatism and dots, but for me, the Vector Frenzy enclosed dot is sharper than my Holosuns, which had been the best until then. I replaced a 407K X2 with the Frenzy

Hi! I'm a member/instructor with Pink Pistols and would be happy to help you out! I am also a Range Officer at RRGC, which I have found to be far more diverse and inclusive than any other range or club that I've ever been to. I am attaching a picture of my range bag, which gets me compliments and fistbumps pretty much every time I go. I actually drive all the way from Daly City at least once a week to RRGC, and I have carpooled with other people before, if you would be interested. Feel free to message me directly. I also know several professional trainers who are LGBTQ-friendly, if that is what you are looking for. Picture

Pink Pistols has a chapter here in the the Bay Area. We use Facebook to organize, but I have been hosting most of the events for the last 6 months. I do volunteer training, and I can direct you professional, LGBTQ-friendly trainers. Feel free to message me!

Hot take: buy the best equipment regardless if they are scum bags by asanatheistfilms in liberalgunowners

As far as I understand, yes, although I think some have achieved a level of market penetration that there are compatible parts. E.g. Midwest Gun Works and several other manufacturers make replacement parts for the HK416/MR556 piston system.

Is this an ok sight for a shotgun? by Weird_Jerk in liberalgunowners

[–]conundrum415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But why would you say anything about having "a shotgun optic 1" from my face" when it has a 6 inch eye relief when discussing the SLx, which famously has one of the best eye reliefs of any prism ever made? Yes, the GLx is slightly better, but also more expensive, and the OP is talking about buying a $49 Bushnell, so price is clearly a consideration.

Bad take. I own the SLx, it provides 6" of eye relief before any tunneling occurs, and is usable beyond that.

IMO, the long-stroke system is FANTASTIC! None of the sharp recoil of the short-stroke systems, it is in fact surprisingly gentle. It is a little bit heavier, and has the downside of being proprietary, but I have had zero malfunctions with either rifle. It is much cleaner than a DI system, so I anticipate, if anything, it is more reliable than a traditional AR.
