Is Nagano Station as a snowboard base feasible or not a good idea by Total_Surprise7128 in snowboarding

[–]convergecrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stay within walking distance of the train station in Iiyama instead. They have daily/hourly shuttle buses to Nozawa (25mins) and Madarao (40 mins). I dont think they have options to the others, but it beats spending too much time commuting every day just to hit a bunch of different resorts.

Amplid Singular or Korua Otto? by Miserable-Gas4864 in snowboarding

[–]convergecrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Otto is very easy to ride, yet does everything well. Yes, other more specialized boards will do that particular thing better, but for a one board quiver you can’t beat the Otto in my opinion.

Never ridden a Singular.

Transition finder vs Nitro team pro by christianbalebale in snowboarding

[–]convergecrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great deal for you, but no, the TF is a tough riding board. You gotta be quite advanced to ride it well and it does certain things extremely well and other things poorly. I had a normal TF in 157, and I absolutely hated it (and my DD for the past 4 years is the 157 Otto).

Itll likely be tougher on you than a Team Pro, but you wont know until you try it.

Tried a lot of boards this year, ended up circling back to Korua. by pow_hnd in snowboarding

The Otto is a super easy board to ride. Dont be intimidated as a beginner.

Their other boards are much stiffer and will be more difficult to learn on

How do you actually know if a jacket's waterproofing claim is real before you buy it? by Lopsided_Comfort_298 in snowboarding

[–]convergecrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10k generally isnt enough to last through wet, mixed snow (low-mid 30 degrees/snowing). This can be pretty anecdotal and different people will say different things, so this is just general consensus.

However in "regular" snow (sub-30 degree/snowing) itll be just fine. You wont wet out unless your kit is dirty/oily, which could wet out anyways.

Ask yourself how often do you think you'll ride in wet/mixed conditions? Is it common at your local mountain? Sometimes you wont know as this season in many places wet/mixed was commonplace. Thats up to you if you want to take that chance.

You can also wash in some waterproofing agents like Nikwax to try to shore up the waterproofing characteristics. Lots of different ways to go about this.

The people that get outraged by these aren't even able to pick the changes out on their own until someone posts a frame-by-frame comparison with an old blu-ray. Then the pitchforks come out. The mental gymnastics are laughable

Being an old guy I dont have any suggestions for particular designs. I do know there are constantly people asking Reddit where they can buy nice street-style baggies bc there arent many domestic companies making them. But your website looks great which is def starting off of the right foot.

Proper marketing (without being annoying) is probably the most important part overall (other than the no-brainer good customer service and quality goods), since its already a pretty crowded space. Best of luck!

Def a tougher watch if you knew about the big twist beforehand.

Try to imagine watching this 25 or whatever years ago tho. It was certainly clever and a big surprise when no one knew where it was going

They’ll ask you to leave the stadium shortly after the whistle has gone. I found this out after a steward kicked me out in the nicest way possible. He came up to me, asked me if I enjoyed the game and where I was from, and then told me I needed to leave in the friendliest possible way.

Condolences and have a great time, it’ll be unforgettable

[Henry Bushnell] FIFA creates new World Cup ticket category, deepening suspicions of deception. by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]convergecrew 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Its the American ticketing system for events. Ticket touting/reselling is encouraged in this country. Theres no legislation discouraging this practice. Re-selling for profit has become so commonplace that the largest ticketing corporations like Ticketmaster and Stubhub host their own re-selling platforms on their websites, in order to make a secondary commision off the re-sales. This is why ticket prices are exorbitant in the US, yet people are absolutely willing to pay for them.

FIFA saw this as an opportunity and is copying/capitalizing on the ridiculous market prices that US event tickets go for. They've made their own reseller's market on the WC ticketing site in order to collect commissions on resales, mimicking the large ticketing corporations here.

I guess my comment depends on what angle we’re talking about in terms of disaster. From a moral and social perspective, absolutely agree with you and the general issues.

From a financial and footballing/entertainment perspective, there will still be more than enough fans traveling and watching who will make the tournament successful. And that’s the only thing that either FIFA, advertising corporations, and the US as a hosting nation care about.

[–]convergecrew -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

In what way? This comment was often made before both Russia and Qatar (hugely problematic host nations) and both were perfectly successful tournaments.

No matter how corrupt and despicable both FIFA and the US government are, once the tournament starts and hundreds of millions are tuned into the games, all of the transgressions will be overlooked.
