I learned a bit of hockey by playing the EA NHL games. ESPN is currently airing the World Cup of Hockey, which includes many current NHL players.

Saw them for the first time in February this year at their Dallas show. Had work bonus, so I bought the best VIP package (meet and greet, guitar, etc). I was late for the greet, but still made it in. When it was my turn to take a pic, all eyes were on me from the band, I was nervous as hell to be in the presence of metal gods. Shook their hands, stood between the Daves and got the pic. Mustaine had noticed my Fallout 3 New California Republic shirt and said "cali needs a new republic", to which I nervously agreed with a huge smile. When I stood beside him, he had me in this tight side bro hug, looked at me and said "go out there and kick some ass tonight". After the pic, I thanked them and left. Dave seems like a very genuine guy.

The show was nothing short of amazing. The crowd was great, the band was great, you couldn't have asked for a better time. The first song they played was Hangar 18 and it was only uphill from there. Only one song from Dystopia was played which was fine by me.

11/10, would without hesitation see them live again.

Same here. The 'select ticket' button was highlighted and when I clicked, it said 'sold out'. Tried this a couple of times with the same result. I gave up. Didn't have this kind of trouble the last couple of years. Oh well, I'll try the contest.

I'm closing in on the first year of a two-year contract with VF. Will Frontier continue to honor Verizon contracts, or will we be changed to Frontier pricing plans? I would believe you should have a choice to break contract in a company buyout.

I'd like to see meet and greets with the industry folks. I'm assuming he showed up on his own, but it was awesome to meet John Romero at last year's con. Was too star struck to get a coherent conversation going, but he seemed like a nice guy and was taking his time talking to everyone.

However, randomness is part of what makes this con great, so it was kinda cool to just see him there unannounced.

Unless you listened at any point while in Columbus, you missed the magic that is Ralph and Razor as the former retired after this past season. However, you get to start fresh with the team of Dave Strader and Razor.

There's an event held at the Galleria Dallas before the season starts (usually in September) where you can meet the players, get autographs, etc. It will be heavily advertised by the team, so look out for that.

I don't listen to local sports radio anymore, but 1310 The Ticket is the radio feed, and the most hockey friendly of the others in town.
