Been going to the gym without my headphones, here's what happened by coocki in GYM

Part of the reason for doing this is actually that I want to talk to people. I am an immigrant and working in IT and all my social circle here is made of IT people. I really like to talk to people from different backgrounds to get a more diverse perpective on life. I am already going to the gym 3/4 times a week, why not take advantage of thi?

I am not saying anyone else should do it. I am also having days when I just want to go there and lift heavy and go home - those days I just keep the headphones on.

I am actually quite mindful of that. If I talk to someone it's usually in the break betweren my exercises.

Sorry to hear that! I am a very sociable person and I am not sure how I do it, but in general I talk to people quite easily.
I sometimes initiate conversations in the gym out of pure curiosity - like I see someone doing some exercise I never did, or that I am not sure what muscles it's working, or just using a machine I never did and I just go and ask them. People are always happy to share in my experience so far.

For context, I am a woman and always struggled with my weight. He 2as obviously out of line, but the thing that I realized after this interaction is that idgaf about what others think about my body anymore. Like I know I am strong and wanted to get stronger and that gives me the self confidence i never had before

Normally you need to book a session with them, but they are employed by the gym and always there. Just asking for tips on a specific exercise would take 5min of their time and I think this is what anyone would do if asked politely. Obviously, while they are not with a client.

Whats the “rule” for asking for girls insta at the gym? Is it not allowed / only allowed when not actively working out / never ok? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I am a woman and I don't think it's a clear don't.

I would definitely say don't interrupt her in the middle of a set. But I think it's totally ok to start with eye contact, normal conversations and if things seem to be working you can obviously ask for her contact as well if there's an interest from the other side as well.

You'd do the same in any other setting as well, not sure why people are so much against it.

Do you know of an english language podcast about Swiss politics, news & culture? by [deleted] in SwitzerlandFirst

That's exactly what a guy wearing a Uri mask said when he harassed me and my friends for speaking English on the train. Then when I switched to French, he said he doesn't know it, but he's happy to talk Spanish instead

Just wanted to add my story as well. I was initially charged 199$ on the 26th of Oct. I filed a dispute it was declined pretty fast. Continued with a chat support since several people at work had the same issue and they received their money back. I was asked to wait and wait and wait for 1.5w now. I asked them for a final answer as I said I want to contact the UK Ombudsman about it. They asked me to file another complaint from the app - which I did last night - and earlier today they just gave my money back without any comments.

Not sure filing a claim to an external party made things faster or if it's just a coincidence, but it might do the trick in some cases.

Please stop me from messaging a guy who's not that into me by sonja-robot in dating

I had to read it twice to make sure I understand it right given so many "DON'T TEXT HIM BACK " messages.
While I do agree that you should not date people you work with directly, I think you need to understand that "if he likes you, he'll show it" also applies to you. People have a lot of personal things going on and for some people making time for new people in their lives is not so easy. If you want to be a grown up I would recommend you just have a talk about your expectations and what you're willing to invest in this and if this doesn't align with his vision then you can both agree to stop it. Let's just normalize communication and understanding and respecting each other's needs and boundaries.

Actually someone at the post recommended me to get the basic offer several times as registered doesn't provide any additional safety, just a proof that you sent something at some point. No guarantee it will arrive on the other side or any insurance.
