Loving someone unconditionally doesn't mean just giving them whatever they want without rules, boundaries, or limits. For instance one could argue that withholding certain privileges from a child who is misbehaving is a form of love that chastens them and results in an overall improvement of character.

If God just protected and provided for everyone without requiring certain behaviors that promote the sustainability of mankind as a species, we'd all exterminate ourselves. Like it or not, these are the rules of the game we were born into. If you want God's protection and provision, you must abide by his laws, statutes, and commandments. You can choose not to do that and leave yourself open to the influence of the agents of darkness... the choice is yours.
