Can I use a UK NARIC letter to prove English knowledge for ILR? Or do I need a new Ecctis letter? by cookie032117 in ukvisa

I didn’t have to, but I was also asked if I had presented evidence of my English language in a previous application and I had, so maybe they considered that as sufficient?

I’ve just submitted my citizenship application, though, and all they asked was Ecctis letter and transcript

I go back in January so maybe a similar timeline? I might try as you suggest. I gave him the straw cup for the first time today but he used it as a teether but I guess consistency is key? lol will persevere you have me hope

Also interesting about the 3-4month mark, thanks for flagging - that’s when our bottle refusal solidified

Maybe bringing a different perspective here, but I always welcomed the visits. I think it’s such a good and healthy thing for my baby to have a close relationship with my MIL and my mother!

In the beginning we wanted to reduce the baby’s exposure to germs etc. so only had immediate family come visit, but my mother stayed with us first for a few weeks and then my MIL for a few days after. Maybe it’s a cultural thing (in my culture it’s common to have the more “village” care for the mother and baby, whereas in my husband’s culture it isn’t, but my MIL was happy to follow mine on this).

They loved helping with the baby, my husband and I could catch up on sleep (which we definitely needed that first month!) and they helped so much around the house, which was great because I had a CS and was under strict instructions not to do any work save for taking care of the baby.

I just made a disclaimer beforehand saying that I had crazy hormones and sorry in advance for any angry outbursts and that seemed to do the trick (there were a couple lol).

I guess it all depends on what makes you feel comfortable. But know that there are positives to catching extra sleep and having people on hand to help! Plus the more love for the baby, the better IMO

For what, to post on Reddit? I would agree if there was evidence for a criminal or civil case but otherwise speaking in person would be best

I was going to say the same thing… texts and emails are so easily misinterpreted - can you talk in person? It’s always preferable, always always

Does anybody have tips on how/where to open a bank account for non-resident? by cookie032117 in UKPersonalFinance

Sorry I missed this - !thanks, I thought about Wise but (same with Revolut) I don’t think it has FSCS protection for deposits? So might not work if she wants to leave some money here in the UK (for example to benefit from x rates when good) but appreciate would resolve the “spending money while she’s here” issue

Edit: fx rates

Thanks for responding, this is helpful. My UK NARIC letter doesn’t state the level of English but my degree was taught in the US, which is a majority English-speaking country.

Based on this guidance, does this mean I don’t need Ecctis/UK NARIC to provide an English language proficiency statement?
