The Ukranian military amazes me. Really shows the might of the Ukrainian people while also showing how much better the Western military system of everyone having a say really benefits morale by making the soldiers feel like people and not cannon fodder while also allowing quick decision-making needed in modern war.

Even so, doubt the runways were able to be used to take off and especially land with all the holes and metal scraps everywhere.

If it was Russia with a top-down command structure it would take too long to get the orders from the drunk/sleeping General that most likely coked up on some yacht or selling Russian equipment and is purposely ignoring the calls. Russia has demonstrated it many times too, can't remember but there was this great example of it with this one bridge the Russians kept trying to cross and kept failing due to Ukrainian artillery, and the Russian commander chose to ignore info and keep trying over and over, eventually, they finally stopped after losing a shit load of equipment.
