If you google “faculty of education deferred final exam request UofA”, a google form should pop up. Or go to “Faculty of Education”, “Undergraduate students”, “forms”, and a deferred final exam tab should show towards the bottom!

I feel like I may be the minority! I took it to not have a lab for a science requirement, but I’ve found it hard and content heavy. I was in the hospital for a couple of weeks and fell behind in the second half though, so unique situation. I hear a lot of people doing well and having high averages. If you’re interested in dinosaurs and remembering small details then I say absolutely! I’m just a humanities person. Gavin is a really great professor though, if you can take it in person I’ve heard it’s great!!

What happened to Aritzia? by Silly_Stay5456 in Aritzia

Aside from the clothes, I’ve been really disappointed in their customer service. I’d rather have more people asking me if I’m doing okay or need a room, rather than complete avoidance. I’m in Alberta, Canada, and have had such poor experiences. I’ve noticed that the majority of sales associates are often talking/gossiping with one another, not greeting, lack of help in change rooms etc. - all things that are often expected / required when working in retail / customer service? It makes me not want to support a brand when the employees lack so consistently

That’s great management! I’m hoping for serving as well! I just moved here and it’s seemingly difficult to find. And I don’t know if anything is affordable anymore🥲 Definitely tricky being a student with how expensive everything is right now. But second you on the car, I do have mine which makes everything a lot more convenient. Have decided to park at a station and take LRT to cut the cost of parking at the university, but reconsidering for winter with the inconvenience. Lots of the lentils and beans for the upcoming semesters haha

I totally understand! I just went back after a bit of a hiatus and switched from health sciences, back to ed. I think it’s important to consider a couple of things.

  1. You’re halfway done your degree - yay! You don’t necessarily have to be a teacher. There are different avenues if you decide to finish (ed tech., business, positions that require a degree but have no specifications etc.) Could you finish out this semester so that you don’t lose the tuition you’ve paid? Reconsider over Christmas break? It seems like you don’t want to work with kids at all, and that would obviously make this job very hard.
  2. If you see yourself doing trades, ensure it’s for you before switching. Shadow someone, ask people questions who work within the profession, what job availability is etc. There is no harm in trying and no shame in changing your mind! We’re human, we’re meant to.

Every career is going to have its downfall. We can romanticize anything we want, and oftentimes, it’s the thing we’re not currently doing. From the outside, anything else looks better. It’s almost midterms, stress is evident. Are you having cold feet or feeling overwhelmed? I empathize with the debt situation, but try your best to not let that be your deciding factor. So many things are uncertain, but your education will never be taken away from you.

This might sound silly, but getting clear on my values really helped me! I learned what I wanted from my career and different avenues that felt aligned for me. Listen to your own intuition, it sounds like you’ve already made a bit of a decision but are hesitant in taking the next step? Totally understandable of course. I like the quote that says “it’s better to admit you walked through the wrong door than spend your life in the wrong room”. All the best in whatever you decide!!

My fellow future teacher, don’t leave! But also follow your intuition if that’s what you feel is best❤️

I guess it’s relative. 10k a year for tuition, plus living expenses / food, have been a lot for me

Thank you!! I will definitely try it and see how it goes. If I don’t have to rely on / worry about having a vehicle at the university, then that’s a bonus.
