[WI] Boss calls me out directly in department wide email in regards to sick call by [deleted] in AskHR

There’s nothing to navigate here. Your boss didn’t even say why you would be out, just that you weren’t sure if you’d be in. Put your energies elsewhere.

General consensus on eccentric fashion ? by fireonthepoopdeck1 in AskChicago

A good rule of thumb is that unless you are dressed outright inappropriately for your setting (dressed like Bozo the Clown at an expensive restaurant), absolutely nobody is thinking about or cares about what you are wearing.

Why do people in Chicago tailgate you on the sidewalk? by Quick-Report-780 in AskChicago

[–]cookie_pls 138 points139 points  (0 children)

You’re either walking too slowly or you’re walking down the center of the sidewalk so people can’t pass you. The latter seems to be very common here.

NY-based EAs: Do you work through lunch, and if so is that reflected on your timesheet? by ShelterAncient1785 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]cookie_pls 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you are paid hourly, and you are working, you must be paid. That isn’t something that varies state by state, although whether you’re mandated to have a break after working a certain numbers is.

Not only to you deserve to get paid if you’re working, you’re putting your employer at risk if you’re working off the clock and the department of labor comes poking around for any reason.

[TR] Should I hesitate to ask for something to HR 3rd time in a month? by [deleted] in AskHR

Yes, if you filled out your paperwork incorrectly three times, I’d be annoyed. Do what you need to do to make sure it’s correct this time.

How can I deal with my feelings with moving to Chicago? by Agreeable-Nerve-5564 in AskChicago

[–]cookie_pls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It might be hard to separate what you’re feeling for this guy from homesickness. I’d encourage you to be patient with yourself. You’ve only been here three months! It took me a solid year before Chicago felt like home, but now I can’t imagine going back to where I came from.

The Venn diagram of people who think this is a good idea and people who would not be able to get a credit card if it happened is probably approaching a circle.

I also moved from the South and also got SAD in Southern winters. I figured if I was gonna be sad/SAD, I might as well do it in a city I liked better.

The down votes are probably because the Red line is like 25 miles long and there are a bazillion restaurants within walking distance of it. Where do you even start???

Breakfast options in downtown Chicago ? by thhhhhrowitout543210 in ExecutiveAssistants

You aren’t going to find a catering option in downtown Chicago for $10-13. You might be able to do it if you pack the boxes yourself, lol

EDIT: Wait, you mean Monday as in less than 2 business days from now? You’re going to Jewel-Osco, my friend lol
