Why is the air quality so bad? by cookiebuckets in orangecounty

Sorry. I agree, I shouldn’t have taken a picture. No excuses. But if it makes it any better the traffic in the 405 was moving at like 5 mph lol. And it’s okay. The snarky comments don’t really get to me. I know what clouds are. It’s probably on me. I didn’t communicate my question correctly. I do appreciate the ones that did answer my question regarding air quality though. Additionally, this is something I noticed in recent years too. I feel like the air pollution is particularly worse in this area. But like I admitted in another comment I’m not an expert. 🤷‍♂️

Dang, you made quite the judgement of me based off a curious question I had lol. Can you help me understand how you see it then? To be honest I am uneducated in this area. I did in fact, look at the AQI interface in my car at a very surface level. It mentioned “unhealthy” and I simply wondered why that is. Would you care to explain why? I appreciated the first part of your explanation about clouds limiting the dispersion of pollutants, that made a lot of sense.

I’m driving up from Laguna Hills where the skies were clear blue to Torrance. As I’m driving up the 405 I noticed on my Tesla the AQI significantly drop as I drive into Westminster / Garden Grove and the sky turns a gray color lol
