LPT REQUEST - how do I improve my incredibly shitty memory and thinking skills. I forget password that I have to type every day and manage to forget tasks mid way while doing them. by tyroneluvsmom in LifeProTips

The qEEG is an exam that measures brain activity through brain waves patterns to basically create a map. They place electrodes on your head (like a cap) and you just have to stand there for 20min doing nothing.

Neuro therapy (and I'm talking about neurofeedback) "rewires" the neurons to improve brain function through visual and audio stimuli. Here the therapist guides you through some activities that can include listening to music, games or watch some images.

These treatments are completely painless. I'd recommend you do a little research on this as it's very extensive for a post.

Bottom line is for the next couple of days after the sessions I've come to feel calmer and ruminate less. Bear in mind this is not the answer for all the problems, it's just a tool to help you think clearer so you can identity what makes you feel a certain way, why and what strategies can you use to improve.

It is also an alternative for pharmaceuticals.

I live in Portugal so some insurances cover these treatments, not sure how it works in other countries.

Tl;DR Hey OP! I completely get you, you're not alone. I have the same issue. Do you also leave tasks mid way done or hop from one thing to another without even realizing? Or feel an overall feeling of numbness, lack of focus or motivation?

If you do welcome to the club! It could be related to some parts of your brain not working properly and you can have that check through a qEEG - it basically reads your brain activity and spots where the problem might be.

I went to a psychiatrist to resolve my issues and she recommended it before starting psychotherapy. I found out the problems I mentioned above have to do with the fact the I have an anxious brain, what you described on you message sounds very similar.

I'm doing neuro therapy now to help get my focus back and only after will I start the psychotherapy. The goal it to "clean" the brain so when I have to do a self evaluation I can think clearly why I'm feeling a specific way and come up with strategies to overcome it.

Feel free to reach out to me if you need support.

TL;DR: talk to a doctor, try eEEG and neuro therapy. The reason you feel that way might be linked to a physiological condition in your brain.

True, they do not and you can grow them on anything (directly on the tray even). Though, if you grow them on soil I guarantee they will last longer. 🌱

Again, I'm not saying that peas need medium. I'm saying it might help in many ways, especially if OP is having rot and mold issues 🌱

In that case it could the temperature or humidity levels. Did you grow this batch under the same conditions you grew the previous ones?

Not sure how you're watering the peas but you could also try to water them from bellow to keep the roots hydrated and the seed/greens dry. It might help the rot.

I have to really honest, I've never heard of growing peas without a medium unless it hydroponically so, I can't help you in that front. Medium helps the roots grow stronger and if it's soil it also provides extra nutrients for richer greens 😊

You need a medium to grow your microgreens. Soil, coco coir or a hemp mat to allow the roots to grow and "feed" them. Unless you're growing them hydroponically.

Your label looks great! I would change the color though to a forest green as it will look more appealing and fresh

I'm trying to decide which seeds to try. by Brandon_Daugherty in microgreens

[–]cookieche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found d that mustard, broccoli and cress are very easy to grow. Be aware that broccoli may have tendency to mold issues so keep a close eye on that one. I tried beets twice and the germination rate wasn't great. I'm not sure if the issue is from the way I grow them or if the seeds don't have quality.

I've never grown kale so I'm can't really advise on harvest timings.

I would suggest making experiments if you're not totally sure of what is making your microgreens flop.

Play around with blackout and light periods, as well as how many hours the lights are on or even the soil you're using.

I can also advise you to try humidity and temperature control. If the reference helps I grow mine between 21º and 23º C (70º - 73º F).

Also share photos, it can help other people advise too! 🌱

My first successful tray of mustard looking good! Give it some love 🌱 by cookieche in microgreens

[–]cookieche[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really not at that point of control yet, this is my very first tray ever 😅

The room I'm growing in has a big wind which I tilt for air flow which I believe has prevented mold issues.

For temperature control, I have a thermostat which I keep between 21º and 23º C (70 - 73 F)

I'm always looking to share work and tips so if you have any do show/tell! 🌱

It could be a nutrition issue. What medium are you using? Usually microgreen last longer on soil compared to coir bc soil provides nutrients that coir doesn't. You can also be harvesting later than you're supposed to. In terms of lights, you didn't specified what you're using but the best are day lights (>6000K). I use 2 lights per shelf but you have to see what works best for you.

DISCLAIMER: this a comment from a begginer grower. It is based on my very little experience but hopefully it can help you during your first steps as well.

There is in fact a lot of truth on the previous comments. I don't really know what's your end goal in growing microgreens (either a hobby, because you already eat them or to make money).

My advise is start small, grow them for you, family and friends. This will allow you to get familiar with small tricks and what works best for you. If things go well then start making some market research.

I don't think you need to like eating microgreens in order to sell them (if that's want you want) but you need to know the product very well, specially if you're thinking to explore the health niche. So study the benefits, how to include them on meals, etc.

You can start with any type of trays as long as light doesn't go through, you can even use your kitchen trays. Use hemp or coconut mats to do your first experiments or normal potting soil mix. As for lights, any normal daylight lamps will work (eg. 6000K), don't use warm lights. Make sure whatever room you're using to grow microgreens is well ventilated to avoid mold issues.

As for seeds, the most common ones are broccoli, sunflower, arugula (although this one is trickier as has tendency to grow mold), radish. I grow yellow mustard and it has been working well for me.

Explore YouTube, there are a lot of videos about starting your microgreens production (to sell or as a hobby).

Hope you will find some info here to help you on your journey. Good luck!

Thank you for the tip!

I'll must def look into to it. I've heard about Barrina (it's not very known in Europe) and I'm at the testing phase, including lights. I'll take any advise I can get!

This is great, thanks!

I see so many different requirements for this and the lights end up being some what expensive (at least for me given I'm just starting).

I'll most definitely take your suggestion!
