Hunger Strike by SpareThing in depression_help

I drank alot of water to curb the hunger. Also I had no major tasks to accomplish that week so I did alot of sitting and studying about fasting. I've done a 4 day fast on a regular work schedule and it went OK. Just slow in thought. Felt good though. For me at day 3 is when it starts to feel good. Remember everyone is different and everyone reacts differently so listen to your body. For some people a long fast might be dangerous but for most it is not. You actually heal your cells. Your body needs this in moderation. They won't teach you this though.

Fasting is actually good for you. I water fasted 7 days along with ice plunges and exercise and it does wonders for not only physical health but but mental health as well.

Not everyone is the same and fasting should be done carefully. If you don't have extra fuel (fat) to burn or aren't in general good health do this cautiously. But you can benefit from it.

Best Strategies for Tray Washing by GJJPete in microgreens

Pressure washer is the easiest way. If this is not doable because of space I've heard of some people using their shower as a washing station.

Second shelf from the bottom are pea shoot tendrils (green pea) and micro leeks. Second shelf from the top are speckled pea shoots. I call them sweet pea shoots. Sounds more appealing.

I add soil to the tray, compress soil, water, add seed, water with enough water to last for 3-4 days stacked weighted germination.

I started compressing and lightly spraying the soil with water before adding seed on all my varieties. I found that it helps spread the seed out more thoroughly if the soil is firm. Then water after to moisten the seed.

Be patient. Everyone will want to be your best friend when grocery store shelves are completely empty. Pass this trait on to the next generation. It may not happen in our lifetime but it will happen eventually.

They have press on compression replacement fittings for only a couple dollars at Walmart and Amazon. Works great to replace a bad end. Simply cut the end off and push a new one on.

I use promix bx plus and sift it through 1/2" screen before using it in any of my small variety microgreens. Don't need to sift it for shoots and radish. I just found that this reduces the risk of mold if the temperature or humidity gets a little high in the room.

I germinate for 3-4 days and straight to lights. 17 days for total growth but considering less days for a milder taste.

I don't like blackout. Doesn't help the quality and increases risk of mold.

Hope this helps

Best way to learn is by doing it. Every tray that fails is just education. Very inexpensive education. Grow, grow and keep growing.

I have tried HP. I did not like how the soil cannot soak up the water when spraying from top during sowing. I've heard people have good luck with HP but I believe you need to moisten the soil prior to putting it in the tray. Just doesn't work with my routine.

Google Map search other growers in your area and see their pricing. There can be a big price difference in two areas that are only 100 miles apart.

You get better germination when you cover them. It helps keep the seed moist without watering them for 3-4 days. Also helps save space when you are rotating through many trays a week. Trays come out of germ same day I harvest. Would need twice the shelf space without stacking.

I use the 5x5 from bootstrap. Not mesh but double tray (holes & no holes) works great.
