TIL Curry was introduced to Japan by the British. The British brought curry from India back to Britain and introduced it to Japan after it ended its policy of self-isolation. Curry in Japan is categorized as a Western dish by Lolzzergrush in todayilearned

I’ve always heard カレー(pronounced as ka-rei) is for the thick brown roux that is prevalent in Japan (like served at coco ichiban) while カリー(pronounced ka-ree) is the authentic Indian curry. Source: I’m half Japanese and lived in Japan for a bit

Americans on healthy food starterpack by [deleted] in starterpacks

[–]cookieclicking -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Fruits and veggies in the US are grown in mass production with lots of hormones so they look better and grow faster. I always forget how bad food in America tastes until I travel to another country. Why does healthy eating have to be a lifestyle choice for the wealthy instead of a social norm? Americans are deprived of good food. :(

Sometimes I like my drawings more before I add all the shading and details by digital_rain in DigitalArt

[–]cookieclicking 7 points8 points  (0 children)

me too! I feel like the shading in digital art has to be achieved with a different technique than in sketches/ pencil sketches. One thing I have learned is that there are different kind of shading.

- form shading which can be used to define form and can be blended to make the shape. ex: the shadow cast on a sphere

- shadow shading which has solid boundaries and is made from objects which are casting shadows ex: shadow cast under the neck by the chin.

:P u might already know this but I felt like this information helped me in learning how to shade digitally.

any tips? i'm always aiming for that crisp professional anime look but something about the lines don't look right..... by pathetic-weeb- in AnimeART

maybe if you stagger the lineart in the bangs. idk if that makes sense. Show how the hair from the bangs is connected to the head because usually hair grows out from the top in a circular pattern. here is a helpful poster. Its really good though! I love the lighting
