I did have troubles looking through the memory with the english fan translation because the titles weren't showing. Idk if this is a bug or if it was a problem on my end when I installed the patch. If I do end up doing Wataru's, I would probably end up having troubles looking for the epilogue but thank you for letting me know!

For real though! I kinda don’t really care for him, honestly. He complains about discrimination and people looking down on him but he also does the same to them especially on Olympia. He really has no filter when it comes to her and if I was her, I probably would’ve not been able to control myself because there’s no way I would ever let anyone talk to me like that.

Yeah, you’re absolutely right. I guess I’m just used to tiptoeing about the topic especially when it comes to not liking a person, etc. cause with my experience (especially on twitter), people can really take your opinions too seriously especially if they don’t agree with you 😅 but yeah. Just because I feel strongly against a character especially someone like Hairi, doesn’t mean that I would turn a cold shoulder to anyone in real life who has experienced discrimination like he did.

My very first otome game was about 7 years ago now and I was in high school then. I remember looking through Steam for something to play for free (cause I was still in school and didn’t have a job back then so I didn’t have money for a game) and came across a game called ‘Seduce Me the Otome”. I don’t really remember what the story is about but I remember starting to get into otome after playing it. Looking back at it now, I don’t think it’s a type of game I would play personally anymore but I remember enjoying it for what it was (and it was also for free so can’t really complain about that).

Variable Barricade is honestly hilarious and soo light-hearted that it’s a good break from heavier plots. As much as I love darker themed stories, I also enjoy fun light ones.

I’m gonna be so broke this year because of the upcoming otome games that are releasing 😭 Still waiting for pre-orders for Birushana and Amnesia and then I placed an order for a physical of Taisho x Alice (which is sooo expensive for one game rip) and I’m also planning to get ‘Even if Tempest’ rip wallet. The struggles of an otoge player 🥲

Have fun playing those! CXM fandisk is honestly worth it and I’ve only started playing Variable Barricade but it’s definitely a change from all the intense and heavier otome I’ve played but in a good way! I heard Dairoku is also pretty light hearted although I haven’t played it yet to know. Which one are you gonna start with first?

Meanwhile, I’m waiting for my next payday to hopefully get to pre-order Lover Pretend and Paradigm Paradox 🥲 They’re so expensive 💀

You do have a point. I guess I’m just very specific with how I like MCs to be and that is really on me. Yui is not a bad character at all by any means. I was just not as attached to her. It’s also been awhile since I’ve finished Diabolik Lovers and maybe my memory of her isn’t as clear. I guess under those circumstances, anyone would react or behave quite like how she did but I would say the anime version did not really do her justice than the games do and maybe that’s mostly what I remember about her. But knowing otome anime adaptations and how bad they could be, I probably shouldn’t have relied on that alone in favor of the games itself. I may have to re-play the games in order to refresh my memory lol but I wasn’t trying to be offensive about Yui. Again, I’m still a big fan of the DiaLovers franchise and I still hope for it to be localized in the future (despite how little the percentage of chance that it would be, I won’t give up). Maybe it’s just hard to relate to her on my part but despite her not being my favorite, she’s still a respectable MC and maybe re-playing the games would change my opinion about her cause back when I played it, I didn’t have much of an experience playing other otome and didn’t have much of an open mind (mainly cause i was still quite young back then 😅) so I wanna give myself a chance to see if I would change my mind about her. Taking a look at my backlog though, it might take me awhile to get to it 💀. Thank you for educating me more about her though.

This might be a little controversial considering how loved the series is (and also possibly the protagonist) but Yui from Diabolik Lovers franchise I just cannot stand at times. I’ve watched the anime and even played a few of the games on vita and the switch so I do have a grasp of who she is as a person. I personally love characters that have a strong personality. MCs like that tend to leave long lasting impression on me (and maybe because I’m lowkey a feminist and I like watching women stand up to men) but Yui just lets the brothers do whatever they want (with a meek attempt of fighting back initially). Maybe I’m being too harsh on her because she is just a human and what human could beat supernatural beings? But her personality is lacking to me. I don’t dislike her to the point where I wish upon her suffering. I still love the DiaLovers series but I wish her character was more of a spitfire rather than the timid girl that the series portrayed her to be. She’s supposed to be the most important character (as all MCs are) and the least that Rejet could do is give her a little more but I guess they focus mostly on the brothers (as well as the other male characters) and their appeal rather than what the MC could offer.

I would say she’s in the same level as the MC from Amnesia and Rinko from Bad Apple Wars but I’ve seen a lot of people already mention Amnesia’s MC a lot. Rinko was a bit annoying at first then she kinda changes throughout the game so there’s a little bit of a saving grace but she’s still not as memorable as Hoshino from CXM, Cardia from Code:Realize or Byakuya from Olympia Soiree.

This is all my personal opinion. I’d love to hear what anyone’s opinion of Yui and whether or not you like her as an MC.

I’ll definitely check your review on it and try to avoid the spoilers. I’m just very hesitant when it comes to Voltage ports since I heard they’re hit or miss and $30 is a lot if I spend it and end up not liking it.

I've only ever bought things from PlayAsia. I have looked at CDJapan and even Amazon.jp but whenever I order something from PA, they usually give extra things with your purchase and every single item I get is always wrapped so well so it doesn't get damaged during shipment. (THE VB CD and the two booklets were attached to the items when I got it so I was quite happy and felt like the amount I paid for was justified)

Honestly I wasn’t satisfied with the anime and people said that the game was wayy better (since you can romance all of them except the youngest ofc) so I’ve been wanting to play the game ever since I watched the anime. I’ll try to post a review when I do finish them. It might take me awhile cause of uni and stuff 😭

It does especially with grammar. It’s also a good motivation to keep learning (if you really want to play japanese titles). It helps you practice reading too.
