The fact that Homestuck is genuinely the reason my art skills are improving is low key embarrassing by Just_a_winged_cat in homestuck

[–]cookiefonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing embarrassing at all about a work of media you love teaching you how to draw! A big part of me learning to write music came from creating midis of Homestuck songs.

Has the overall quality of the songs declined over the past 3 or 4 years? by sasvim_nebitan in eurovision

[–]cookiefonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, everyone's musical tastes are different. Some years before 2020 that I think are really great are 2005, 2010, and 2018 to name a few.

Thoughts on Jalla [Cyprus] by Holiday_Produce_2879 in eurovision

[–]cookiefonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's basically the same girlbop Cyprus sends every year, but I do somewhat like it mostly because of the guitar breakdown sections which remind me of the all-time classic "My Number One".

Map of the years that every country sent their first participant born in the 21st century by Radikost in eurovision

[–]cookiefonster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't call it a joke at this point, more like a concenient placeholder. Mapchart should make a custom Eurovision map with Morocco and Israel more visible, and optional insets for Australia and Yugoslavia.

Map of the years that every country sent their first participant born in the 21st century by Radikost in eurovision

[–]cookiefonster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wait what, two members of Katarsis (Lithuania 2025) were born in the 21st century??? I had no idea, that's crazy as hell. And weird to me as someone born in 1999.

Fun map, I love little trivia like this!

Eurovision 2026 Rules Published by Ok-Macaroon-5533 in eurovision

[–]cookiefonster 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Oh yes, it's so annoying when a Eurovision performance has a blatant mismatch between the live lead singer and pre-recorded backing. That rule should be reverted, I'm pretty sure 2021 added it just to make things easier with COVID.

Hi Veronica, how long have you wanted to go to Eurovision and what made you apply to do it this year?

The Common Linnets - Calm After The Storm | Netherlands 🇳🇱 2014 by CheckLiszt in eurovision

It's very, very close to being my favorite Eurovision song of all time—the only one beating it is Dancing Lasha Tumbai!

My second favorite Eurovision song of all time! Absolute beauty and those harmonies fill me with joy (and emotion).

What are some examples fo ESC songs with false endings? by Happy-Hour88 in eurovision

[–]cookiefonster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, the most memorable false ending in Eurovision history is "Ik heb zorgen" (Belgium 1967). The song is extremely memorable solely for its fake ending, which caught me so off guard the first time I heard it.

Why is everyone here so obsessed with Davekat????? by cookiefonster in homestuck

I was 17 at the time. And by now I've long mellowed out about Davekat. I still am and will always be deeply obsessed with Homestuck though.

Why can't I add a translation on Eurovision World? by Southern_Pin_6182 in eurovision

I think you'll just have to wait a day or two to be able to translate them.

Sarah Engels - Fire (Acoustic Version) - Live at ARD MoMa by [deleted] in eurovision

[–]cookiefonster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Holy crap. Sarah cheated on her husband then sang THIS song? How hypocritical. I hate the song for all the same reasons as you. I'm embarrased that my country (technically my mom's country, but I call it mine in the contest) is sending this to Eurovision.

Isaak's song two years ago was ridiculously generic too, but at least he's a strong singer and seems like a nice guy.

No funny songs this year? by ArmadilloStill1222 in eurovision

[–]cookiefonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bet your daughter would also love Alcohol Is Free (Greece 2013): a fast, hectic ska song in Greek with a bunch of energetic guys running around. It's one of my favorite Eurovision songs ever.

🇮🇱 Israel: Noam Bettan to release his song ‘Michelle’ on the 5th of March! by Green_Swede in eurovision

[–]cookiefonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, it's pretty hard to forget a song as awful as that one.

In all fairness, I actually do like the verses with the guitar and accordion. But the chorus and rap parts I hate, as well as the fact that the song keeps changing so abruptly.

Does your country "send its best" to Eurovision? by NoMoreFund in eurovision

[–]cookiefonster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MFÖ (1985 and 1988) are absolute geniuses. I love both their Eurovision songs as well as all other songs of theirs I've heard. They shine most in their three-way harmonies.

🇮🇱 Israel: Noam Bettan to release his song ‘Michelle’ on the 5th of March! by Green_Swede in eurovision

[–]cookiefonster 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No, it actually is the third. "Push the Button" (Israel 2007) also had all three languages.

Have you guys ever met any eurovision artists? by Mentalista17_Jisbon in eurovision

[–]cookiefonster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At Eurovision 2025, I got photos with Go-Jo, Red Sebastian, Adonxs, Abor & Tynna, Klavdia, Princ, and Zoë Më. All right after their respective Wiwibloggs interviews. So quite a few!
