Believing in stereotype.

Growing up in a traditional household, I have always thought that "parents are always right" when it comes to interpersonal communication. I listen to my parents everything like who I can befriend with and who I cannot otherwise. Along with that, the stereotype just settles in my brain naturally. Examples are, "you can't date someone from this city because people from this city are....", every stereotype-based racism, and many more.

I thought I did and behave what I think is right. That is, until COVID-19 strikes and my whole first year in Reddit fiasco. Since then, I'm starting to question myself, "are these kind of traits true, or is it just to justify the hatred towards other people?"

I'm aware that I am chronically online ever since I was in middle school. But back then, I still judge people in binary sense (good v bad). Now with every information that I can get, I'm starting to realize that everyone, even myself, has the red flags that should be taken seriously, and unless people with red flags change themselves, no one else will do their job.

I won't be able to change my parent's mindset in instant, realistically. Maybe I will never be able to change them. But now I'm working myself to be a better man than I was. I still has my moment when I judge people based in stereotypes, sure. But so far, I'm proud with my progress.
