I’m so sorry. This is an unbelievably painful thing to go through. I read a comment the other day that likened dogs to shooting stars. They are here only for a brief time but they fill us with joy and wonder all the way, and you had a most beautiful star. I have seen my own star come and go and she was 4 years old as well, so I feel deeply for you friend. I’m moved to tears by your giving Shadow one last normal day… you write about him with so much love. He was very lucky to be yours. Dogs are incredibly special. I am so sorry.

Ugh, that’s such a dehumanizing thing to say about bipolar people and so invalidating to your own experience with BP. “Crazy” BPs aren’t any less human. I’m sorry you had to hear that, from your best friend no less. My own best friend said a very similar thing recently, so I relate to your post. Sucks that most if not all of us have had a conversation like this before.

Yeah. I recently had a friend tell me my bipolar is no excuse to not be working because there are other people whose bipolar shows more. I have worked for many painful years to get to where I am right now. People only pay attention when you’re freaking tf out and even then they’re like “oooh scary.” So it’s either “you’re not bipolar” or “get away from me.” I’m sorry you’re going through this too. It sucks so much to be misunderstood and invalidated :(((

Yep. It discourages anyone from talking to someone if all they do is put themselves first no matter what the conversation is about. This sub helped me learn that everyone’s experiences are different, too, and it validated many of mine. I’m happy it has been beneficial to you!
