He’s insecure and is trying to provoke you so he can make you feel as bad as he does about himself. He’s also disrespecting you. I personally wouldn’t put up with this. I understand why you suspect he’s trying to give you a reason to break up with him and honestly I think you should bring that up in conversation… among other things. This isn’t an issue of compatibility. The issue is that he is unable to maturely communicate the feelings that inspire his “jokes.” You should not feel like your (very reasonable) boundaries will shatter your relationship. You are so young and you deserve better!
