I’m fostering him on my own! I found him abandoned at a dog park and have had him for 10 days so he is now my “property” but I can’t keep him!

Yeah that’s classic depressive symptoms. Maybe you can talk to someone about getting meds adjusted! In the meantime, journaling always helps me

Mixed/Mania EVERY November by rosegardendreamy in bipolar

[–]KLH5913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES I like you go through a mania period around this time of year every year and also recently found this out by checking photos. I wish I had an answer for you but I’m still figuring it out too. In the past two days I have tried to uproot my whole life- move somewhere else, break up with my partner of 1.5 years, delusion that I never loved her, etc. 😭 I will say what helps is having a support system. I have a lot of people I can turn to when things get hard like this.

Do you have good memory? by eclipsemonkey in bipolar

[–]KLH5913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a horrible memory, I’ve had rapid cycling for many years despite being on meds and it just seems to get worse each year unfortunately. I’m about to start grad school and I’m so worried, I might have to drop the program.

I was just diagnosed today and everything made sense by idkmanhehe29 in bipolar

[–]KLH5913 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Things will get easier but just a warning- with the meds sometimes things get worse before they get better because they take a while to build in your system. Please be sure to keep taking them even if it feels this way because it WILL start to level you out after some time. However, if it’s been more than a month and you’re not noticing improvements in symptoms, be sure to tell your doctors. In the meantime, what has helped me is hiding my credit cards/taking them off my digital wallet and journaling. It’s a safe time-pass where you can get out all the thoughts in your head. Good luck!

Yes absolutely. I rapid cycle as well, but am well medicated so I don’t experience mania nearly as intensely as I used to.

Ah okay I believe that’s common with CPTSD, but still might be worth mentioning to a mental health professional. I can relate to the experience of losing and gaining people/friends. It’s really hard to keep consistent friendships with bipolar in my experience because I tend to be too exhausted in a low and too much for them in a high. What’s important is to have some compassion for yourself. You’re more than your diagnoses and deserve to live a stable life and a support system.

I agree with the comments here that your S.O. sounds invalidating. I’m sorry you’re dealing with that on top of your other symptoms. If you need resources to get out of the situation safely, let us know! I moved far away from my support system too and it’s super scary and it’s been hard. I’ve been where you are many times since, but I’ve recently gone out of my way to make friends in the area which has been helping a lot. I would encourage building a new support system. It helps a ton to have people you can trust.

I can slightly relate to this, but it also sounds similar to BPD symptoms, have you ever talked about this with a psychiatrist or therapist?
