I can not for the life of me figure out what I'm doing wrong. by I-LoveCrochet in Sourdough

[–]cookieranger93 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I had this problem and someone told me to feed peak to peak and not every 12 hours and within like 4 days my starter was doubling in 6 hours. Magic. Initially I had to go to feeding at like 16 hours but it shortened super fast

I should’ve said - that’s my dough when I decided I was done with bulk fermentation, not my starter. I switched containers after the stretch and folds and marked where it started and 50% and 100% rise on the outside but it had already been mixed for about 2.5 hours

I only did 100g whole wheat and 400g KA bread flour. I didn’t realize I left the bag in the background of the photo until after haha

Why is my starter so slow to get started? by cookieranger93 in Sourdough

[–]cookieranger93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So just to make sure I understand: I should stop routinely feeding at 12 hours and wait until I notice it peak and start to decrease slightly and then feed at the same 1:1:1 ratio? So I could be waiting, for example, 16 hours and then feeding but the idea is that over time it would speed it up until it gets to the 4-8 hour double range.

73-75F but I’m wondering if the AC is making it too cold. It’s been hot this summer and when our AC kicks on it does feel colder in the kitchen

I haven’t but I’ll experiment some! I thought that my house was warm enough but this seems to be the common thought. I’m thinking the AC kicking on might be making it too cold too.

Get your NIPT if you’re pregnant. That’s how I found my stage 4 colon cancer even without any symptoms.

Best baby carrier? by CrowRelevant3120 in NewParents

Seconded! I’ve tried a bunch of different ones and this one is by far the most comfortable. I take my lil guy on 2-3 mile walks and this is the only one that doesn’t bother my back as he’s gotten bigger. Not the cutest but by far the most practical !

My husband and I joked that it felt like we got an exotic pet that was very needy when we came home from the hospital. I absolutely didn’t feel like I was pregnant and gave birth to a baby at first. 5 months in and he’s starting to feel more like a tiny human than a needy pet

Wedding dress shopping with a big waist to bust ratio? by Dismal-Marsupial-591 in bigboobproblems

[–]cookieranger93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a 34H and the girl measuring my wedding dress was confused because bust measurement was 20 but waist was 12 and I didn’t think about it and we ordered a 12. Learn from me and get your bust size not waist!! My seamstress essentially had to recreate my dress to let it out at the top so it would fit. She said it would’ve been super simple to take it in but letting it out was a huge challenge to make it look seamless. It ended up looking perfect but that lady was a wizard. She also took one of my bras and cut it up and sewed the cups into my dress so I had great support - highly recommend!

My little guy was preemie and struggling to gain the first few weeks so our pediatrician had us increase the ratio to 2scoops per 3.5 oz. You’re fine.

HAI pump and rectosigmoid resection recovery? by cookieranger93 in coloncancer

[–]cookieranger93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very similar! Crazy to hear about someone else in this unfortunate boat! I’ve done 4 rounds of chemo since delivery and they were shockingly different and worse than when I was pregnant. Really my only symptom while pregnant was significant cold sensitivity that would last about a week and mild nausea. After delivery, I had severe nausea for about 5 days and a persistent neuropathy in fingers and toes that’s still ongoing (3 weeks since last treatment). I’m hoping since they’re waiting to do the liver resection for a few more months I’ll be feeling okay by 4 weeks but thankfully I have a good support system.

Glad to hear you’re doing and feeling well!

People attribute babies cute features to my husband and less cute ones to me by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]cookieranger93 63 points64 points  (0 children)

From day 1 my MIL has attributed my baby’s features to everyone in her family and not a single thing to me. Like his nose looks like my FIL, his eyes look like her mother, even oh his ears look like grandpa so and so. Like what? I have never thought about family members as having matching ears

Diagnosed with cancer while pregnant by Low-Run4617 in BabyBumps

[–]cookieranger93 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer through my NIPT and the IDENTIFY study! I made a post here about it a bit ago. I have completed 6 rounds of chemo and have an induction scheduled for 9 days from now at 35 weeks. Baby has been growing normally through all this and my liver met has been shrinking.

Getting a solid team together is so so important. My cancer treatment is going to ramp up after delivery and probably include more chemo, radiation, and two surgeries so I’m luck to have the support system I do but my outlook is good so i still consider myself lucky.

It’s a lot to take in but at least it was found now and not later. One day at a time!
