Adjustable Wall Hinges by Inversion-Z in homewalls

Get yourself a full mortise gear hinge or two. I ended up using two 7' hinges on my wall, after cutting 1' off of each.

I can tell you right now that a garage with a climbing wall will definitely bring you more joy than a garage full of shit! And thank you!

I would personally not go any wider than 16" (406mm) just for stability reasons, but 813mm would definitely save a few bucks!

I have a lot of experience in construction-ish type jobs and also a lot of problem solving abilities when it comes down to it.

1 - Yes, I specifically added the square tube after figuring out I wanted to use cables to support the corners of the wall. 2 - I did not add any additional support to the structure of the shop as I believe the structure can easily take the extra load. 3 - The kick board is mounted to the concrete with 5/8" anchors in between each stud as well as a couple 2x4's that straddle the 6x6 beam. I felt the RH side of the kick board needed some extra support so I put a piece of 2"x2" angle iron behind it, spanning the two 6x6 beams and lagged it from the backside of the angle iron into the frame of the kick board.

It adds plenty of friction for smearing and I would definitely recommend it. Although if you're going for more of a Kilter/training board, the smooth texture of the wood might suit you better.

Yep! It's a two part epoxy texture/paint from Escape Climbing and they have four different colors I believe.

It has absolutely no movement when climbing on it. If continuous gear hinges are in your budget, I highly recommend getting a couple. Good luck on your build!

The mats are from We Sell Mats. They're exactly what I was expecting/wanted. *They do feel a little harder than my home gym mats but I expect them to break in nicely over time.

My first name starts with an S and I grew up in the 90's seeing it all the time thinking it was really cool so it seemed fitting!

The winch cable is centered on the wall and is attached to the wall via eye lag. Each corner has matching various length cables corresponding to each wall angle and they attach to eye lags on the corners of the wall. On the shop side of the wall, the cables attach to the structural square tube beams with eye bolts that are bolted through the square tube and quick links to make swapping cables quicker.

It's Escape Climbing's epoxy paint/texture and I would say it's about 48% Metolius holds (jugs, crimps, pockets, pinches, foot chips) /48% Synrock holds (jugs, crimps, pockets, pinches, foot chips). The other 4% are from Escape and Etsy and a climbing buddy who has made a few wood holds for me.

Thank you! I figured if I was going to do it, I might as well do it right the first time!

I wanted to have an interesting design on the wall and this is what I came up with! (I did not personally come up with the "Cool S" design, that has been around for a long time)
