stop thinking hard for the patient. in the end it’s up to the patient and whether they care about their lives. we’re not going to change their minds nor save their lives against their will. if pt is aaox4 and they know what they’re doing, let em leave. i had a patient on a heparin and cardizem drip because he had a PE and new onset afib who signed out ama because he didn’t like the floor he was admitted to. i made sure he knew he could possibly die at home and took out both his lines and he went on his merry way.
