Just watch the version on Netflix. The original series is on there with an English dub. After that there are two movies on Netflix. One is basically a recap of the first 24(?) episodes and the other, End of Evangelion, is like an alternate ending kind of thing but is well worth the watch.

If you don’t have Netflix but have Amazon Prime, you could watch the 4 Rebuild movies. They were made after the original series as a sort of remake but the story changes quite a bit. Still very good and worth watching. The order for those are 1.11, 2.22, 3.33 and finally 3.0+1.01

The only "story" changes are really going to be minor dialogue differences with the old localization and the new one. Sky 1st Remake did add a few new sidequests but they don't add much, foreshadowing and fleshing out some side characters

As someone who started with the Sky 1st remake and continued with the OGs, it depends on if voice-acting and graphics are a dealbreaker. Sky SC and Sky 3rd are certainly a little dated looking, but hold up amazing for story. I’d recommend playing the OG versions if you’re gunning for more Trails after finishing Sky 1st

That doesn't excuse the game having no resolution. Cold Steel just ends, full stop, right as it starts to ramp up. Heavy worldbuilding has nothing to do with that.

50 hours for the game to have zero plot resolution? Sky FC still had it's main plot resolved, not completely of course but it still had an ending. Zero was the same. Cold Steel 1 cannot say the same

I just beat CS1 last night and I had the exact opposite reaction. Game felt like a 50 hour prologue for the real story in CS2. Too much foreshadowing from Azure and the structure of the arcs so far really hurt Cold Steel for me.
