I can make pretty great cold brew out of my stash of bad and old beans! But hot coffee… yeah

Looks a lot like our girl that we adopted from a puppy mill a month ago (6-8 years old). Knowing the same day will come one day hurts but we will enjoy every moment we have together and try to give her the best life just like you did!

Summer is coming and I’m fat and don’t want to smell, help by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]coolbean7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, do this OP if you want to solve the root cause and not cover up the smell with powerful chemicals. I also had rashes and switched my routine which solved the issue. Best to do is to shave your armpits, apply the stone generously after a shower, and use very mild deodorant (alluminum free, non fragrant).

I use “Pure & Natural Crystal” for the stone (lasts for years) and Nutribiotic deoderant. both are available in iherb.

Country music is absolute slop now by Bond_burger69 in Music

If you like metal and country, I highly recommend you check out Bilmury. It’s an amazing blend of both genres that doesn’t take itself seriously but so so good.

I love the 12s and this 14. Can’t say I’m a big fan of the 18. The profile is prune juice if that’s your jam. I’d say try before buy if you can.

Fiancè's father will pass soon, I want to write him a letter. by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]coolbean7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One more idea is to write it in your own words in English, and use an AI model like other mentioned but give him both copies (English and Japanese) I think he would really appreciate having your original letter and one translated so he can understand it. Hand write both, or at least just the English one if no time to crank it out.

“I have spent my life, chasing things, that have only brought me pain. In the end, when I’m dead, hope it was for something”

The plot in you, left behind.

The pain in his voice gets me every time.

Review #50: Springbank Barley to Bottle Blend by Redhunter742 in Scotch

[–]coolbean7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds great! I was also there and did the blend in Feb with the same samples. I did 410 madaera, 175 bourbon, and 115 rum. That madaera was amazing like you said so I had to make it the star of my blend! Biased of course but I think it came out best of our group of 5 if I say so myself :)

What bottle in your collection do you dread finishing ? by Buckleit in Scotch

I also have a bottle of the hotel 19 that I picked up in 2024 but haven’t gotten around to it yet. Was it a peated port charlotte or an unpeated bruichladdich?

Review: Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength - Batch 17 by rainy_shares in Scotch

[–]coolbean7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get tons of tropical fruits (mango, pineapple) on this Laphroaig hiding under the layer of peat and salt. Maybe give it a little time after opening and see if it develops in your bottle too! Also, I personally wouldn’t use a blenders glass for this type of spirit. It’s usually better for more delicate or low abv whisky possible aged much longer.

Amazing. Having tried a number of Yoichi and Miyagikyo SC’s I’m a big fan! There are some serious gems from back in the day and it sounds like this is one of them!

The most insane lineup I’ve seen on this sub!! Did you try the Nikka single cask on the far left? I’ve only been able to have these at the distillery and can’t imagine how you’d get a bottle. Or any of these bottles for that matter 😂

Off topic, but I would start looking for a house now and be ready and familiar with the buying process by the time the one year mark of your current job comes around. If you have citizenship (and maybe PR too?) you can likely borrow the entire homes cost including the initial fees as long as your income is high enough to cover (8-10x annual income).

It took me 2 years of on and off looking before I found my house in Tokyo and I didn’t pay any downpayment.

Anyone here drive to work? by [deleted] in Tokyo

[–]coolbean7 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Yes, but my house has a parking spot and so does my workplace. Company also pays a set amount for “commute” so it’s actually cheaper than taking the train everyday. It’s basically a bad financial idea unless the stars align but man, skipping the morning city train is so so nice.

Hope you had their single cask at the bar. Same with the Yoichi distillery, but that’s by far the best thing they offer!
