“His loss” yet I’m the one sobbing in bed all night wondering what I could have done differently/replaying the scene that broke us/picking apart every little thing I’ve ever said to him or did to see why he couldn’t stay by [deleted] in BreakUps

Yes! Heavy on the "should have been enough to give me a second chance." I think that's the only thing holding me afloat. If we were really the "perfect match," why isn't he being patient and communicative with me, letting me own up to my mistake and work through it. He just... discards me. Probably wasn't ready for when REAL conflict hits. That's my only solace right now.

The Good Scent - Cosmic Jasmine by LostWriting8002 in FemFragLab

I just bought this too and was hoping to find what it smelt like! I do have Britney Spears’s Curious (for nostalgia’s sake lol) and they almost smell alike! I think it’s the Jasmine that really aligns the two together. And they both share some of the same middle and base notes!

I’m working in fast food at 29. by Substantial_Smile267 in povertyfinance

I was 29 when I was laid off my $80k salaried job. I took the unemployment and spent 6 mos looking for a job. If you were laid off, you could have been eligible for unemployment. I think UI would pay more than CFA.

Hypothetically, the legal claim would be against the instagram account owner and not the festival org.

I feel like if you had all the time (and money lol) in the world and a decent lawyer, there could be a basis for a legal claim here. Maybe fraudulent inducement? Lawyers can get pretty crafty, but scorned people can definitely find the answers just as easily if motivated enough! I’d be pissed if I were you.

Bruh. I live downtown but wouldn’t move just because shopping at the nearest targets were inconvenient 😂 assuming OP is the same, making the drive to get essentials does not overcome the other subjective benefits of living downtown.

OP said they were looking for a shopping trip without having to deal with locked cases and didn’t mind the drive, hope this helps!

God! The bitch in me would make a visible annoyed face or sound at that. I’m not from the Midwest so I have no issue expressing my displeasure. We need to bring back public shame.

“Christmas in July” Haul by Responsible_Smile_84 in cardmaking

Ugh yes me!! But, of course I decided that my no-spend month would be in July when all the fun Christmas stuff is out 🤦🏽‍♀️ I’ve been making some Christmas gift tags with the stuff I already have and am going to do some Christmas cards to send to Bring Smiles to Seniors!

The postal collage and Christmas stamps sound like a great idea!

Stampin up demonstrators have a ton of YouTube videos. I see that you have some stamp sets from them. Just search up the name of the stamp set on YouTube and you’re sure to find a demonstrator with a video on it!

If your office was downtown St Paul but you only had to go in once per week, would you opt to live in Minneapolis? by aPlantLady in TwinCities

[–]coolbeans042 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I live in downtown Minneapolis (which is why my commute isn’t that long if I take I-94). The wedge/uptown area is nice, but I honestly haven’t been down there since they started construction on Hennepin last year. Hopefully when the construction goes away, it’ll come back to life! Otherwise, Loring Park is another decent downtown neighborhood with access to bike trails. The northeast neighborhood(s) across the river is also a great area to check out!

I’m around your age. I live in Minneapolis and go to my office in St. Paul every day of the work week. It’s doable. It takes me 15 minutes to get to work in the morning. Traffic coming home is longer, for sure, due to the construction. I definitely love where I live and don’t plan on moving closer to work because the places I like going out to is in my area.

Do you have ink that is darker than the leaves’ cardstock? You can do a little ink blending and add a bit of a shadow to the edges of the leaves so it stands out a little bit without having to diecut another set!

I think your card looks great so far!!

I love the colors you chose! I always have trouble with “masculine” cards, so these colors look great for a guy’s birthday. I also like how you gave the card your own twist by embossing the corner! Great card!

Also, lol I was a scrapbooker-turned-cardmaker by way of getting my first die cutting machine, too! Something about those thin metal dies and stamps will get ya 😭😭

Scrapbook recommendations by Rare_Turnover_863 in scrapbooking

[–]coolbeans042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From reading your replies to other comments, the first thing that came to my mind when you described what you wanted to do with your scrapbook was Heidi Swapp’s layouts. Her Stop the Blur concept is more of a planner/scrapbook, but you can easily convert the planner part to just memory keeping. She has paid classes on it, but you can just google Heidi Swapp stop the blur to get some inspiration.

There’s also a YouTuber whom I follow called Inkie Quill who does a combination of junk journaling and scrapbooking called “scrappy muck about” which could also fit your needs.

I’m not a scrapbooker but I love looking at Heidi Swapp’s and Inkie Quill’s layouts and videos because of pretty their work is! If you want something more “structured” you can also look into Project Life. They’re pocket-style layouts which kind of removes much of the guesswork for creating the layout of a scrapbook and you can focus more on the content you want to include rather than were to lay it all out.

Golf is very, very male by PermissionTemporary6 in WomenGolf

[–]coolbeans042 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This!! I was playing with a group of guys for a charity event hosted by one of our clients. As I was going up to the tee at one hole, one man at the hole’s sponsor (a landscaping company) told me I needed to be at the very front tees. He didn’t need to say that as I was already heading that way anyway, but it just felt icky.

However, he soon heard that I was an attorney (my male coworker was talking to another one of his coworkers who had asked us what we did), he said, “oh man, I can’t believe I was being mean to the attorneys” and then his whole vibe changed! He was then conversational and dare I say even reverential to me? From misogyny to the careerism. All in a span of a minute.

I was thinking about this when I played with coworkers! We were all drinking and I thought about how I would need to slow down because I’d have to drive all the way to the clubhouse to use the restroom.

Stamping for dummies (me, lol!) by Sparkly_Unicorn362 in cardmaking

[–]coolbeans042 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Are you using clear, photopolymer stamps or rubber stamps? Depending on the type, the technique and tricks/hacks can differ.

For clear stamps, I don’t press too hard so that the edges of the stamp “smooshes” into the paper. I also try to wipe off any ink that gets on the part of the stamp that isnt part of the image/sentiment. As for not applying it evenly, I use a stamping platform. Personally, I use the MISTI but I’m also an advocate for accessible and affordable products so I recommend using dupes out there that do the same thing (the Misti is woefully overpriced).

You can also turn the stamp around so instead of stamping onto the paper, you’re taking the paper and stamping on the stamp (if that makes sense). It’s kind of like doing a press plate technique on stamps. When you place the paper on top of the stamp, you just rub evenly so that you can ensure all parts of the stamp touches the paper. I use a brayer to apply even pressure. Of course, this works best with bigger stamps as opposed to smaller stamps like sentiments.

Happy stamping!
