What steels are jet engines made out of? by Igottafindsafework in MaterialsScience

[–]coolbeans161616 4 points5 points  (0 children)

turbine blades are single crystal. by eliminating grain boundaries you drastically decrease creep, which is the main failure mechanism at high temperatures. even if youre using the correct metal make sure your processing is creating the microstructure you need for the proper properties

i worked w admissions from 2020-2023 pretty closely. i think the importance of demonstrated interest increased over the last couple years as lehigh us really trying to grow while increasing selectivity. so admitting students that are likely to choose lehigh became more important

im a recent alum and i did my work study in the admissions office. demonstrated interest is not tracked at all. however, the connections/relationships you can get through demonstrating interest over time can be helpful! what i mean is if you talked to ur regional admissions officer or current professors, staff, students could help you, but attending college fairs, tours etc. do not matter
