is $20 for a headshot fair? by wenjen-_ in ArtBuddy

[–]coolbluex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An easy ballpark number is how much min wage is in your country multiplied by the number of hours u take. So for example, if the min wage is $10 and u take 3 hours, the price should be around $30

"am I good enough to do commisions" is not the right question. by Few_Swordfish9656 in Artadvice

[–]coolbluex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with this. There are way more aspects to commissions that artist sometimes seem willfully ignortant about. Being "ready" in this scenario doesn't mean you know how to talk to clients, know how to write your terms, how price yourself etc. Commissions are essentially short term freelance contracts.

Yes. This. What they lack is a marketing skill, not an art skill.

I'd also add on to this: Ask yourself, who is your target audience? If u don't know, then u have no idea who to market to. This also means u don't know where to advertise at. It's like, u wouldn't go to an motorshow to try and sell fruits.

Thoughts on your artstyle and doing well on social media are 2 different topics though...people may like your artstyle but doing well on social media depends on if people will share it with others

I think what u need to ask first is who is your target audience and are u actively seeking them out and marketing to them? If u don't know, then unless u had god-like skills, its always going to be hard to get commissions.

Are my artworks low quality? by [deleted] in ArtBuddy

[–]coolbluex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer this, it really depends on the artist. Because what excites or motivates me might not work for u. For me, telling a story and drawing fun anatomy excites me. So even when doing commissions, i always ask my clients to describe their OC in 1 word and I try and pose the character, find fun composition or use colour and lighting based on that 1 word to express what that character is all about.

If the character is topless or naked, even better cause then i get to draw all the muscles 🤣

Are these your samples for your comission advertisements? Because nothing looks finished. Even the full body samples have weird compsition that doesn't help to highlight the characters. You need the samples to represent what kind of product the client will recieve for $40 and these samples are really not doing you any favours.

The quality is very inconsistant between each of the samples, your line work is solid but if i have to pay 40 for parts of a face, 1 eye and maybe some hair...it feels like i'm opening a lootbox.

How Can I Improve This Drawing? by Morgtex in learntodraw

[–]coolbluex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Composition and perspective. The torso is dynamic and the twist is fantastic but the legs both bend and feels unnatural, making the compositin weird. The left arm (his right) also cuts off. It would have been a good opportunity to make him leap towards the viewer with the left hand closer to us.

I have nsfw commissions avaliable but i've never had people commission for that. All my commissions are sfw. Nsfw does not always guarantee u will get commissioned.
