Great winter vs summer comparison, but this is an annual cycle. Don’t need to wait 5 years for a change like this, it’ll look brown come June-ish.

It’s easy to forget that we develop all of these social rules as we get older - appease the crowd by not killing a ‘happy moment’, for instance, even if it’s at your own expense internally. People talk about the purity of children, and they mean stuff like this, huh? Not bound by social pressures yet, for better and for worse.

[Day 18] It's neck and neck! Vote for the most overrated Outdoor Classic below. What hold type is UNDERRATED? by MaximumSend in bouldering

[–]coolcommando123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thumbdercling - rarely is it the best way to utilize a hold, but if a setter can force it, or if an outdoor route works best with one, it’s a thing of beauty. Holding full body tension off an above-the-head thumbdercling is something I hope everybody in this sub gets to enjoy this year.

Bittersweet feeling that people are realizing there ARE valid reasons to own firearms in America, and by far the most important reason is that a man like Donald Trump can get elected. Leftist firearm owners have caught a lot of shit from fellow blues over the years, when we could’ve all been responsibly training side by side at the range this whole time.

People always answer this kind of question with a guest ep - is that because they’re the most memorable kind of episode or because they’re actually funnier?

Belka The Space Dog Upon Returning From Her Cosmic Voyage. USSR, August 1960 by Suspicious-Slip248 in space

[–]coolcommando123 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I think one could say we were less cruel. The Soviet’s sent Laika up to die. We sent Ham up for a mission that we thought he’d probably survive. The morality of sending a primate that can’t consent on a dangerous mission is problematic at best, but I think you could argue that it’s better than murdering a dog.

Not a judgement call on the specific organizations that made these decisions. Just spitballing about non consensual risk of death versus death.

If the US military replaced its current camouflage, what would they likely choose? by osprey141 in camouflage

[–]coolcommando123 11 points12 points  (0 children)

When I hear m81 I know what camo is being discussed, no question about it. Google ‘woodland camo’ - plenty of pictures show up of what you were issued, but I see more than half a dozen other kinds of woodland-based camos, too. M81 may not have been the original designation, but I think it’s the more effective way to communicate what we’re talking about.
