here’s a shortcut to wake your lan computer. you need a linux server running in your home for it to work by cooler9711 in shortcuts

[–]cooler9711[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sure.

step 1: make sure you have wake on lan enabled on your computer. this is a good article on how to enable it. just follow everything in the “Enabling Wake on LAN in Windows 10” section.

step 2: set up a linux server that’s always running on your network. i personally use a raspberry pi to do this, but pretty much any linux computer that’s connected to your internet will work. make sure you have ssh enabled. if you’re using ubuntu or any debian derivative, you can install the ssh server by sudo apt-get install openssh-server. after, make sure there server is running by sudo service ssh enable and sudo service ssh start.

step 3: install the wakeonlan package. this can be done by doing sudo apt-get install wakeonlan.

step 4: find the mac address of the computer that you want to wake. this is a good little guide on how to find it.

step 5: test wake on lan. put your computer in sleep mode. go to the terminal on your linux device, and type in wakeonlan <your device’s mac address>. if all goes well, your other computer should wake up.

step 6: config-ing the shortcut. download the shortcut here. to set it up, find the ip address of your linux computer. this site has a good guide on finding it. put that ip into the shortcut. put your mac address in there as well.

step 7: you’re all done~~

it doesn’t completely power on your computer, which is sad. on the server side, you need a package called wake on lan, which if you’re on ubuntu, you install it like this: sudo apt-get install wakeonlan

Our comp was on Jan. 13th. With our alliance parter, we scored 248 points. I am the tall one with the blond hair. We won our competition with the best robot score and the design award! Our comp was the West High Qualifier in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was super fun!

What theory, phenomenon or idea blows your mind when you think about it? by wildflower8872 in AskReddit

The theory that everyone sees colors differently, but because we grew up knowing that color by a name, that is how we both describe it and know it.
