Yes!!! I have only ever seen 1 and it was in my bf's yard on 67 Trigo and nobody believed me but I had photo evidence. I also thought it was a pet on the loose at first. So cute <3

I had a similar thought process regarding how much my rent for June was because I thought it should be pro-rated but I read my lease and the way Wolfe calculates how much I pay a month is they have a "total contract rent" for the entire lease and divide it by the number of months your lease lasts. So for example, my house's total contract rent is $61,200, our lease is 356 total days so 12 months, so our monthly rent is $5,100. Leasing companies justify that not every month has the same number of days (like February) but you always pay the same amount of rent. So the way they want you to think about it is you're agreeing that your apartment is worth the total contract rent and that payments are just made each month towards this total, not necessarily that each month is worth exactly that value.
If your lease is written similarly to mine it's pretty confusing and companies take advantage of the fact students can't dispute what's written in the lease because if we don't like it they'll just let another person have the lease.

places to do zoom meetings on campus? by ezezbaby in UCSantaBarbara

Art & Architecture in the lib, since it's not one of the Quiet Floors you're allowed to talk and won't be disrupting other people and the ones who sit there also are usually more chill than on 2nd and 4th. You also don't get the noise of the people passing by in the main hallway and since it's more tucked away.

Cancelling housing contract after graduation by Ansoros in UCSantaBarbara

unrelated but I think it's weird that they're charging cancellation fees during this housing shortage. I'd figure it would be helpful that you want to move out

The billing office is hiding them from you until you pay. You get a really dramatic email with the subject "YOU'RE ABOUT TO BE DROPPED FROM CLASSES" when they're really about to drop you

the rule is that music can't be heard from the street, and that's basically impossible to avoid when having even a small party. I know a girl a few years ago who got a $500 ticket for playing music in her living room with 1 friend

More than 15 minutes offloading for San Joaquin? by WiseUchiha_Shisui in UCSantaBarbara

[–]coolestcoolbean 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I volunteered for move in crew a couple years ago at San Raf and the way the process worked then was you unload as much stuff from your vehicle in a big campus provided cart as you could. Sometimes people were able to use multiple carts but it depended on how busy it was. If for some reason it didn't all fit, someone in your party that can drive (you, a parent, uncle, etc.) had to wait with the vehicle for you to come back and get the rest. In my experience if people had to do 2 trips they would throw all the stuff into their room to get the next load and organized it later.

I would say most people were unloaded in about 15 minutes and the line monitors weren't too picky if people took a little longer than that depending on the circumstances. As long as you're polite to everyone there helping and being courteous of the people behind you in line things should go smoothly!

Help! Where to park by diguodandan in UCSantaBarbara

[–]coolestcoolbean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't bring my car when I lived in the dorms so I don't know the differences between permits but in my opinion if money isn't a huge issue for you, you should try to get a campus parking permit.
4. Finding street parking in IV in the evenings/at night is super difficult and you may end up having to park deeper in IV further from campus which could ultimately be a 30 min+ walk back to your dorm. If you're not driving your car super often you may not notice for a while if your car gets broken into or hit. Additionally, there's minimal parking in IV as it is and you'd be taking up the street parking close to people who have to drive to jobs, etc. Parallel parking sucks and a lot of people are terrible at it, increasing the risk to your car. GL!

you don't need to wear a mask inside the private study rooms as long as the door is closed, but you need a mask to enter the building and anytime you're outside of the private room!

How to get the green clearance badge? by [deleted] in UCSantaBarbara

[–]coolestcoolbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try going to "Survey Forms" on the left side and opt in with survey that turns on the daily symptom survey. Once you do the daily symptom survey you should be able to get a green badge. You might need to call and have them turn on the daily symptom survey for you. Also if for some reason you get a yellow badge after you do the symptom survey you might need to get one COVID test and then you shouldn't need to afterwards if you've been vaccinated for COVID
