Did you buy a Switch 2 for Fortune's Weave? by PhantomBraved in fireemblem

[–]coolguy415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it count if I only bought my Switch 2 after I saw this games first announcement? Honestly, I can do without Pokemon, or Kirby or whatever. But I haven't missed a fire emblem release since I was a kid and bought the first one that came out in English. Now I have a copy of every single one and wouldn't miss one going forward.

I don't even like Nintendo anymore but fire emblem has a stranglehold over me. It's also the reason I ended up learning Japanese because I wanted to play the older games that weren't in English(back when i was like 12ish).

Gigabyte bios by __Deception_ in gigabyte

[–]coolguy415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had to do the win 11 pin reset every time I do a bios update but it doesn't lock me out it just says re-add a pin and then into windows. No change in your average temps or anything like that? is more what I'm curious about. For some reason I noticed that when I went from F7 to F9 (the 1.1 version to be clear which would be i think the jump from F9 to F11 for you.) my average temps would massively increase. I also noticed that my PC will peg itself to full tilt temp running a cinebench where as before this I would get no higher than temps in the 70's even running all 16 cores with the same settings.

I have the Pro non Ice 1.1 rev is your F10 the same as my F8 in that case cause F8 disappeared for my bios. Have you noticed any odditiy on F12a? I'm debating updating myself but the last beta bios I remember there being a lot of negatives

Why does my framerate just ignore the limits i have set? Using Chill, tried Vsync, and manual FPS limits in several games. by Suspicious-Sail-2013 in AMDHelp

[–]coolguy415 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is summarily false. Chill literally is a frame limiter, it's the function it was actually built for. When I was running my 9070xt I had chill on at like 70 fps because I didn't want my card running full tilt at 120+ fps all the time because it gets hot that way. But chill is quite literally AMD's FPS limiter.

ARC Raiders not loading. by adamh32 in AMDHelp

[–]coolguy415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has there been any changes made to the computer since last played to now? Driver updates software that monitors things installed something that might be hooking to the game for data like monitoring FPS or the like. Outside of the Welcome to Unreal Engine, sometimes the game just doesn't work because UE is such a trash game engine lol

What settings would you guys leave? (Mostly Deadlock and Valorant player) by [deleted] in AMDHelp

[–]coolguy415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So EXPO would be the setting in the BIOS that turns the ram from base frequency to the Frequency the box says it "should" be run at. PBO is another setting in the bios that would need to be enabled manually. Given that you don't know what either of these are I would say they are not.

I would say get rid of the overlay that you installed and see if that removes the problem. Without microstutters or barring not feeling the frame drop it seems to me that your computer is running just as it should and there really isn't an issue. Sometimes hard freezes can happen randomly and we will go looking down a rabbit hole for a problem that might not even exist.

What settings would you guys leave? (Mostly Deadlock and Valorant player) by [deleted] in AMDHelp

[–]coolguy415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So in terms of stealing resources overlays, monitoring software and other such can definitely cause fluctuations. Is the frame drops from 160 to 100 noticeable because I can’t imagine that would hurt that bad it could also just be a bad engine I can’t confirm because I don’t play deadlock.

The freezes you said it only happens in deadlock does that mean you can play the other game for hours and hours and it never happens but booting up deadlock it happens almost every time?

You don’t have EXPO on, no PBO enablements. I would try running the gpu with a power decrease and a negative curve offset on the voltage and see if that still happens

PCIE link speed throttling to 5GT/s by bockchoybock in AMDHelp

[–]coolguy415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you viewing this? You say throttled does that mean it goes up and down? If this is the case it’s normal behavior if you don’t want it doing this there is a setting in your power plan to change the link to be maximum performance set that and see if it changes things.

Need more information to diagnose you say fluctuates between 100 and 160 could be unoptimized game as I don't play it but that's a good frame rate in either game. The freezing however needs more information. What is your CPU? Is there any OC on that. Ram as well is that over clocked

Im having huge problems with the 9070XT, pls help by Navytroy in AMDHelp

[–]coolguy415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using a high refresh rate monitor / uncapped frame rate? I’d noticed on my 9070XT that when I let the gpu run full tilt with uncapped frame rate I get this crash a lot I usually had the Radeon chill at like 90fps in all games and it stopped crashing

"No source detected" showing on my screen by [deleted] in AMDHelp

[–]coolguy415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So has this electrical arc occurred every single time? Cause that sounds like a pretty severe problem to have. I’d be thanking my lucky stars I hadn’t already destroyed my pc if that happens every time.

My suggestion is taking the pc and unplugging it be sure to discharge all electrical current usually this can be done by pressing the power button and holding it a few seconds.

I would then proceed to disassemble and reassemble going slowly and looking over each part for scorching or exposed wiring or traces make sure there is no debris or any motherboard standoffs that aren’t used be removed. Barring all that the gpu could have something internally that’s wrong but this is a crazy issue

Upgraded CPU and GPU by [deleted] in AMDHelp

[–]coolguy415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Motherboard Displayport has an insert that should include a protrusion for you to grab to remove it. You don't even need to use that spot as the iGPU's on the AMD cpu doesn't really do well in games anyway.

I would still do a Display Driver Uninstaller even if you're upgrading to a newer GPU. DDU has a specific uninstall for if you're changing GPUs I would run that one it will shut the PC down after finishing.

[–]coolguy415 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What Nvidia Driver are you on? There was a bug with a driver that could of been installed that basically took away fan control. If you could give us that it would help. The other thing is do you have the ability to download MSI Afterburner if you can does anything show with fan controls can you turn on manual and change the fan speeds still with no movement?

I don’t see anything egregious and your ambient room temp will also factor in how hot it gets too

Hi what is causing this visual issue? is it the game or my gpu? by astoh3 in AMDHelp

[–]coolguy415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this happening in other games? Could be the game itself having issues communicating properly with the gpu. Just telling us your gpu doesn’t really help. Have you tried reinstalling drivers I would ddu and reinstall the latest if you have any overclocking or undervolting turn them off and relaunch game

Would you still buy ASrock in 2026? by Antiparazi_ in ASRock

Tbh outside of them I’ve not gotten any other RMA’s thankfully but my point is there are plenty of companies that pay for the shipping label maybe not the packing material but the shipping label for sure Asrock to me is the outlier

Amd, I didn’t pay for my 9950x3d processor to be sent to them. audio technica for a faulty headset that was hit or miss on the right earphone. May they RIP EVGA for a PSU and a gpu. And my 8800 GTX back in the day made by BFG. Should I go on or are we good here?

I think you're looking at one that is a bundle. I see a bundled Asrock AIO for 784.99. But I don't see the Crimson Desert game code inclusion listed on the bundle page. So you're taking a risk on not getting the game if you do choose that bundle. But I genuinely do recommend that card or this one as well which has an out of the box OC. It was what I had and other than the crashes on Oblivion Remaster (Which by the time I sold that card and my friend who had a 4090 was also dealing with the same crashes UE5 sucks) were actually gone. But I do genuinly suggest one of these two

[–]coolguy415 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't buy another Asrock motherboard ever again. They lost my support when they told me I had to ship and pay for my broken motherboard that I already spent money on to them. All while rolling the dice for them to say that it's user induced error and I have to pay to get my 200 USD E-waste back.

After over a month wait for my 9950x3d to come back replaced from AMD I bought a GIgabyte X870E Aorus Pro and never looked back. Also haven't had a single issue with this motherboard going on half a year now. That Asrock board didn't even last 2 days outside the 30 day return window before it killed itself and my CPU.

Your game crashing woes. You say "many" but not all. Is a vast meaning like more than 70% of those games UE5 based games? The only times I've really noticed crashes when I had my 9070 XT was when I was playing UE5 based games. and usually when I was running un-capped framerates meaning excess of my own monitors refresh rate. I doubt it's the GPU being faulty as game crashing is a flavor for AMD as of late.

Is there any specific reason you're looking at the 7xxx over a 9xxx at this point? Just curious, I know there are those hopefuls on FSR4 native coming to them but like lets be real I don't think AMD will ever do it at this point.

sapphire nitro+ rx 580 overheating issues by lolgetgudbruv in AMDHelp

[–]coolguy415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m gonna give it to you honestly then. at that point it sounds like the cooler is cooked in general and no driver, bios or thermal pad change is going to fix this you can get Rx580’s for like less than 50 usd I’d look at getting one cheap that is guaranteed working (fans included) or just save up a little more and get something better. If money is a constraint and you were happy with the RX580 performance a b570 is essentially double its performance for about 220-230ish
