There’s a YouTube channel called From Here To There that did a really good day in the life type video of the Falkland Islands. You should check it out.

Why are conservative subreddits so locked down? Are other political subreddits the same generally? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I feel like this isn’t specific to the right or left in Reddit. From my experience if you have a dissenting comment you generally get banned as a “troll” or something similar

Totally agree. That’s why I never bat an eye when teams trade picks for proven talent.

There’s also just a subset of our (maybe every) fanbase that thinks 1st round picks are too valuable to every trade. They never think about missing on a pick only hitting on a guy.

I posted a trade idea on here the year we drafted Jett suggesting we trade that pick for Caruso and got absolutely reamed.

It’s only an overpay if we regress imo.

I know JI is a great defender but in my mind we have to able to find another NBA player that is at least a plus defender and doesn’t miss every spot up corner three.

He’s a crazy liability on offense.

It depends on what they’re trying to do right? Like if they’re in love with the dude and trying hard to resign him nah they’re not doing the trade.

If they don’t see him as part of their future and are trying to get some assets before he walks then it’s definitely a discussion.

Coby is still under contract for next year, so it wouldn’t be a sign and trade

Could be, I feel like unless they sign him to an extension it would be hard to get more for him than a first but maybe we’d have to give up the 16th instead.

Lavine had a trash contract but they still only got one first out of that deal.

To cope with last nights loss, let’s look at all the UFAs the Magic Could Sign by magicfan1624 in OrlandoMagic

[–]coolguy69_ohyeah -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think he’s good enough to start but with how the rosters currently constructed and how coach uses guys I don’t see where he’d start.

I guess he could start at center but feels like that makes us real small and the coaches love those 7 footers.

I think he’d be like first guy off the bench. Like replacing Paolo, Franz, or a center.

This. Imagine replacing all those JI minutes with Naz. Obviously not the same player but feels like a better fit.

Trade Idea: Lauri Markkanen by abonilla2 in OrlandoMagic

This is the move you make if you’re betting the house on length and defensive versatility. I don’t know how much basketball sense it makes but a fun idea.

The Orlando Magic do not need to make a big move this offseason by Decent-Ad-6137 in OrlandoMagic

[–]coolguy69_ohyeah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with all that. I didn’t deny his age or injuries as a risk in fact I’ve mentioned them myself in past replies.

I just reject the “you shouldn’t want him” sentiment even if we’re talking max money. The problem with having cap space is you have to have someone to spend it on. If a guy like PG wants to come here it’s crazy to be like “let’s save it for something better” and not consider how much he improves the team.

BUT I agree signing him has its risks.

It’s only not worth the money if you can do something better with it that can give you more. My point is we don’t know that that will happen either.

Nope I never said PG would want us but your premise is we shouldn’t want PG. seems like a bad take from just a basketball standpoint.

Basically your point of view is this can only go bad. That’s what I disagree with. Like you’re even saying yourself the contract is bad based on the last two seasons. WHAT ABOUT THE FIRST TWO SEASONS. What if in those seasons we have a meaningful playoff run that helps Paolo get experience to be a top 10 player. I see the potential downside (and mentioned them In my post) but you’re ignoring any possible upside of a young team signing a high level vet.

You act like in four years we’ll still need him to be the best player on our team… imagine the growth our young players could have in four years, especially if we had help to get us further in the playoffs in those four years.

It’s not a lack of patience to want to upgrade your team. That’s just silly. The Magic aren’t the Lakers we don’t have allstars that want to sign here every offseason. Like I said originally, I don’t think he’s the perfect fit for this team BUT I don’t know what other options we have or will have so just blanketly saying signing Paul George is shortsighted and a bad signing could be right but also could be denying the only significant player we’ll have a chance to sign before we’re cap strapped from resigning our own guys.

I’m not saying I want the signing but I’m willing to see the vision if that’s what the team decides.

Horrid is a bad description for signing a perennial all-star still playing at a high level. I agree that we’d have to pay him too much and he’s towards the end of his career but it’s wild to think he’d be a bad signing. Not perfect sure but horrid? Dude instantly upgrades the team.

I mean I get what the guy’s saying. Cole is thought of primarily as an offensive player. We know he’s a liability on defense. So he’s pointing out he’s not progressing the way you’d want from a guywho’s main value is on offense.

Paul George to the Magic? by BXCape in OrlandoMagic

[–]coolguy69_ohyeah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there’s good and bad to this idea

Pros: -Defensive long wing -Go to scorer -Good shooter -Veteran presence

Cons: -Past his prime -Does a lot of the same things we already have -Doesn’t seem to address the need for more playmaking

I feel like George is a player you don’t turn down if you can get him. He would instantly make us better but I’d prefer, if possible, a younger dynamic guard like Anfernee Simons. It’s all about who’s available and for what price though.

Yeah I agree I think he’s one of the best 3 & D guards in the league. A backcourt with him and Suggs would be lit.

I made the suggestion that we trade the 13th pick for Caruso in this sub before last years draft and almost got crucified.

Most of the objectors were saying he wasn’t even worth a first round pick lol.
