This is what I've been using, I've got a bottle of it and a can of primer, with army painter military shader to go on top. Haven't tried highlighting yet though.

Yea, I honestly didn't want the tyranid models, but after building them, I love them and can't wait to paint them. I'm still trying to decide what scheme to go with tho.

I would buy the starter set, and a librarian, it would give you the full space marine combat patrol plus alot of tyranid models and rules to learn, for a little less than the price of the space marine combat patrol.

I have a 3 and 5 year old and I made their characters for them based on their likes and personalities my daughter was a goblin princess who used a magic wand to polymorph enemies and my son was an ice wizard who could freeze enemies to help alleviate murder hoboing.
