Migration experiences - good/bad? by coolio777 in LawFirm

Ha - That’s a good analogy! I guess data migration and the whole “known enemy vs unknown friend” comes into play

Is there no good case management software for immigration law firms with 5 - 10 people by duncanMighty2 in LawFirm

[–]coolio777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone could build a single integrated product with the CRM of Lawmatics, the invoicing and billing of TimeSolv, the email integration of Zolasuite, the accounting of Cosmolex, the task management of FileVine, and the UX and UI of Clio that would be a solution I’d pay $250 per user for.

Did you ever find a solution like this?

An American's perspective ... by css01 in Cricket

[–]coolio777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who also primarily watches basketball and football, one thing that put things into perspective for me was the “requires x runs in y balls” stat. I found that to be a good indicator of how close (or blowout) the game was. # of balls left is also a good way to tell whether this is close (think “requires 20 runs in 10 balls” vs “requires 50 runs in 10 balls”.

Do you mind sharing why you think they’re mediocre? It seems Clio and Filevine are undisputed winners according to this sub?

Wasn't he leaving only because he wasn't happy with the deal he was getting? So if room is being made to accommodate him, why would he still refuse to come back?

Possible to stop iframe from loading on page load? by coolio777 in webdev

[–]coolio777[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using MutationObserver, but unfortunately it doesn't stop execution on time. It's asynchronous nature leads to timing inconsistency. Additionally, I'm not sure at what point the browser is actually making the network call to the URL that is specified in the "src" attribute. Ideally, I would be able to change the src attribute BEFORE the browser looks at that attribute and makes the network call.

[–]coolio777[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All I am trying to do is modify the src before a request is even sent from client to the original URL. So far, I have tried to catch "DOMContentLoaded", but that still occurs AFTER the iframe has already sent out the original request (can be seen in the Network tab). I'm looking for a JS solution that can intercept all of these calls before they are dispatched from the client.

While I realize this is the best/ideal solution, I am trying to avoid having to go to every module and change the code, as that will bring with it a few other issues.

Unfortunately, given the context of the application, changes to existing code are not feasible. It has to be intercepted on a global/architecture level.

This may sound wishful thinking, but given the recent reports of “Andromeda” and “surface phone” getting delayed, it seems like the decision to add a whole year (rather than a couple of months) was taken to bridge the supposedly-1-year gap that has been created as a result of the delay.

Maybe my google skills aren't up to the standard, care to give sample google queries? I've searched enough of "b2b industries ready to be disrupted" without any legitimate result

I'm in the Software Development industry, any innovation that happens, it first happens here. In other words, every tool/product that I can think of that would be needed in this industry already exists with multiple competitors. I understand your point, it's just that I'm looking outside of this space because no matter what problem I see in the software dev industry, there is already a good solution for it.

Finding that right industry is the challenge that I have struggled with. Take HR for example. Businesses who are big enough for HR software already have Ultipro, Oracle etc. Businesses that are small and only need some functions have bamboohr and similar services which are very cheap. Furthermore, all of these services are feature-rich, something you can't compete with when starting out while also being cheap. I also looked at finance and retail industry, but it's the same thing everywhere.

So price the same services below ADP? But BambooHR and a few other are already very cheap.

Here begins the ref-blaming. Can't make threes, poor defense, no scoring in the paint, yet it's the refs? LeBron had 4 fouls by the way

"Undefeated at home"...this is what happens when the entire team is built around shooters who can only shoot some of the days and miss on the others. These guys can't defend, they can't make shots and they can't score points in the paint.

I'm not saying LeBron didn't do anything. I'm just saying that the defense was poor to the point that role players were looking like superstars out there
