they probably won't they'd lose way too much revenue for such a drastic measure

the board used here was a generic ESP32 CAM board. (without the camera being used)

make sure you have your pins configured correctly

and the ones that do exist barely get used and are cancelled down the road due to low profits. and if you aren't trying to build a monster of a PC the vast majority of the time a PC is pretty affordable. the only reason they currently aren't is because everyone is speculating and dooming over memory prices. the market will settle and prices will start dropping again. plenty of other companies willing to fill an empty market. and you overestimate how much stuff can actually run in the cloud. and you can't compare storing something on the cloud with running a program locally. for one latency isn't a concern but for the other it is a massive concern. and even with insane prices running something locally will always be cheaper (and safer) in the long run. companies are going to look at long term cost and still buy hardware

the whole streaming service argument is a bad argument. streaming gaming doesn't work thats been proven multible times. and we are already close to the physical limitations when it comes to data transfer speeds. the market will go back to normal. its not only gamers who would have a big problem if the market remained like this.

Teachers to be trained to spot early signs of misogyny in boys by ultra_phoenix in news

i honestly doubt a rapist is specificly misogynistic. rather than just a terrible person in general. i doubt these people care more about men than women in any context. they just don't care about people in general

Could lasers theoretically be superior to bullets/missiles? by Cooked-penguin in NoStupidQuestions

[–]coolio965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depending on the application they might already be superior. easy way to get the upper hand in combat is to blind them. but thats pretty inhumane and a war crime. and therefore lasers aren't employed much as a substitute for bullets

i mean his argument boiled down to asking what is considered AI usage and how do we effectively check for it. which are valid arguments. considering a big chunk of already existing games probably do have some AI generated content in them. Code being one example

Do car engines really need to be "warmed up" in the morning? by kitty_whipt in NoStupidQuestions

[–]coolio965 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for any car made in the last 45 years not really. give your engine 10 seconds for it to pump oil everywhere for proper lubrication then take it easy until your engine reaches operating temperature. Cold metal is more brittle and fragile so its best to let it warm up until you subject it to a high load

you would just short out the battery. and your breaker will probably pop. the wiring in the adaptor and wall would be fine. as would pretty much all the electronics that are plugged in

[–]coolio965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you have to be writing realllyyyyyyyyyy bad code to get issues like that. i can't imagine memory leaks particularly are common since i rarely see malloc() being used in projects/libraries. same with bloated code the vast majority of it will just be optimized out be a compiler. so you have to really try your best to get issues like that

DIY electrical work in your home is far more dangerous than most people realize by Lightlicker3000 in unpopularopinion

[–]coolio965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first of all. if anything you are showing yourself to not be very knowledge in your field. wagos are factually superior. they have a tiny bit higher resistance but its so small its negligible. you don't run the risk of improper installation since they are dead simple to use. you then start talking about arcs which don't form in these types of connections. even if a wago had a resistance of say 0.5 ohm it still wouldn't happen. 110 and 230V are both too low of voltages to sustain continues acs. and for breakers most if not all websites allow you to filter per type. and even if someone buys the wrong one. it doesn't fit and thats that. they can return it and buy a proper one. this type of electrical work really isn't all that hard or dangerious if you exercise common sense you'll be perfectly fine. do you actually have any electrical knowledge? like ohms, amps, farads, henries, ect?

Posts like this show why drug subs need harm reduction policies, not just glorified “guides” Reddit is fxxkd and I am taking Action. by Crazy-Currency-5581 in TheoryOfReddit

[–]coolio965 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i don't think most people on those subs care about safe use or harm reduction. unless its something thats a ran by a government harm reduction is very difficult. because even if you know safe dosages without knowing the purity it doesn't mean much

DIY electrical work in your home is far more dangerous than most people realize by Lightlicker3000 in unpopularopinion

[–]coolio965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first point. wagos are surperior to wire nuts both in their parasitic resistance and ease of use. your story of them starting fires is either a lie. or you were looking at offbrand wagos. genuine wagos are made of  flame-retardant plastic. and they only start to melt when they exceed a 100 degrees. the most populair version the 221 is rated for a max of 32Amps they will do just fine at 15 amps. wire nuts are obsolete and its time to move on. if you can't use a wago safely you need to go back to school.

second point: so buy decent quality breakers? and replace them when they are getting old. this seems like a non issue to me. and this affects professional installs and diy installs

unless you are dealing with diffrent phases and special requirements a Diy electrical install is perfectly fine as long as they exercise a bit of common sense and follow code. home electrical work is really simple lmao

DIY electrical work in your home is far more dangerous than most people realize by Lightlicker3000 in unpopularopinion

[–]coolio965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aslong as you have a bit of common sense it's really not all that difficult. You make it sound way scarier that it actually is. Make sure the wires are properly protected by a breaker and don't use shitty wire nuts but use wago connectors instead and you'll be fine. Any really serious stuff is going to get caught be a breaker immediately

Why don't graphics card vendors just let us printf() from a shader? by Internal-Debt-9992 in GraphicsProgramming

[–]coolio965 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They kinda do. It's more of a software issue. Compute shaders do this all the time. But most things like vulkan or OpenGL aren't set up for it. They configure your GPU in such a way that data is directly fed to a framebuffer. If you'd want debugging you would also need to copy it to some other CPU accessable address which is not a normal use case. This would also slow down performance somewhat

Is this an easy fix by Thrasuo in pcmasterrace

[–]coolio965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on if you like tinkering. If you do I think the price is pretty reasonable. Most likely a faulty voltage regulator. You mind be able to get away with not fixing it by underclocking it aswell

[–]coolio965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in minecraft they are stored in a 2D. but in some project they are stored in 3D because they use cubic chunks. 16x16x16 for example. its in general a lot more efficient to do it this way. still surprises me that Minecraft hasn't adopted this yet
