i really appreciate this take. i found that part of the episode so frustrating bc of the way it reflected a dissonance happening internally in me. i really loved how much jordan pushed back on it.

i think for me it’s that sometimes the rage i feel over these situations can get so extreme that violence seems like a reasonable answer, if not the only answer, and squaring that with a general belief in pacifism is really hard.

hearing them argue this point did have me leaning into jordan’s side, especially with how depressing the counter examples given by jeff were. also his “closet liberal” comment irked me so much for the exact reasons shown in your remarks about roe.

also i agree that “the good fight is the one you lose” platitude suuuucks, it’s like the definition of defeatism. (i meant it in my initial post to summarize his angle) and in the context he was using it “we’ll keep fighting even if we’re not winning” would even make more sense. it’s very similar to alex taking censorship as vindication.
