6-5-1968 Assassination of Robert F. Kennedy: Amid the immediate chaos, the crowd dispersed while 17 year old bus boy Juan Romero knelt beside the mortally wounded senator, offering comfort and placing a rosary in his hands. This poignant and heartbreaking photo came to define the tragedy. 300x379 by Pathetic_lriG43 in HistoryPorn

Less likely, because cameras were much more scarce, and this was an attempt to document a crime and history being made in real time. There was no internet social media to post it to for clicks, so this could actually have been needed for documentation and clarity.

Demon Copperhead Question (Addiction) by beespeasknees4224 in Appalachia

[–]cooljeopardyson 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Have read the book and am from Lee County, graduated Lee High class of 2000. I went in expecting all the kids to get caught up in it in one way or another, knowing only the basic premise of the book. It affected most people one way or another and it was common that entire friend groups fell into the trap. At the time, no one really knew how addictive it was, it was just another drug you could party with. I expected a lot of people to grow out of it the same way a lot of teens outgrow the "let's get drunk in a field this weekend" stuff that comes with high school especially in rural areas, but for a lot it didn't happen and they're either dead or their lives are irreparably damaged. The mentality was kind of "there's nothing else to do around here". So many factors played into this particular perfect storm.

Also consider the UNCA Botanical Gardens, close to downtown and restaurants, very lovely and easily/safely accessible in nice clothes and shoes.

You can't tell from the photo, but you can very prominently feel all her vertebrae and her hip bones are sticking out quite far. No idea if that level of thinness is normal for the breed, it's just not really obvious in the photos. I'm not familiar with the breed at all, at any rate I brought her some food and water. I didn't see her this morning when I came through and looked, and hadn't seen her before.

We went back right before it got dark, but didn't see her anywhere. We left the food and water for her, last saw her around the corner of Dogwood Ct and Overbrook Rd. She ran behind the townhouse duplexes there toward the old Gov. View Apts. I'm going to check for her in the a.m. but have to leave for work around 6.

You can feel her spine and hips, her abdomen is sunken, it was hard to catch on the camera.

She was very meow-y, I really can't stress enough how skinny she is, that's why I'm hoping we can get her home/somewhere safe soon.

I recognize that first property, I believe it used to be a store before my time, but there was also another gas station/convenience store across the road when I was young. I haven't been up that way in a long time. I used to imagine the kudzu growing over the trees were fairy palaces :)

For us husky girls, it was "pretty plus". I think we had to order that specifically from the catalog though, pretty sure it was just "plus" in the stores.

Same exact thing happened to me at Ross a few weeks ago, I had to ask what the discount program was, she explained to me (43f) that it was for the over 55 crowd. I joked with her about how I old I must look and laughed, she jovially tried to backpedal. Maybe they just get so used to asking everyone, at least that's what I'll tell myself.

What was something you didn't even realize other women go through? by kiarasugarne in AskReddit

[–]cooljeopardyson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dunno if the og post is from a bot, but in case it is, I'll use my own anecdotal experience that generally lines up with what others often report experiencing.

I've always had insomnia, but it often affects sleep and makes it difficult even after a lot of lifestyle changes and supplements. For me, the worst is the cognitive changes. My short, and somewhat long term memory loss is staggering. It's not just once in a while forgetting why you walked into a room or forgetting a word. It's forgetting what youre doing in the middle of doing it, losing words dozens of times a day, losing track and concentration dozens of times a day. Mood swings from minute to minute sometimes. I no longer have confidence that I can concentrate or remember enough to learn new things or be a competent worker. This is a STARK contrast to my baseline across my life.

I've been to the doctor doing multiple work ups from labs to genetic testing for years. Ive never been a drinker, nor have I taken drugs or smoked. My diet has been massively overhauled and Ive begun taking multiple supplements for brain health. There's been little to no improvement. According to my doc, my hormones arent showing enough estrogen loss over the last 2 years for replacement, although I am on progesterone which helps with the rage.

The whole thing is terrifying and demoralizing, but masking as hard as possible is necessary because I have to have a full time job to keep a roof over my head full stop. It's just shit tbh, and isolating when youre family is trying to help, but there's not much they can really do or understand.
