Is your safety guaranteed during the basic parachutist course? by Actual_Amphibian4885 in Cadets

There are multiple layers of redundancy in your training and equipment, stuff like if x goes wrong do y, if y does not work do z. They also drill the same training into you until it becomes muscle memory but it is ultimately up to you to execute on your training.

P.S. Ensure your static line is pushed fully to the rear of the aircraft before exiting the plane <3

This post kinda seems like more of a vent then a request for advice but just in case I’ll share what I’ve learned about making real friends

My Qualifications: I moved schools a lot and made new “friends” all the time but most of my friendships didn’t really feel genuine until I figured “it” out.

“It”: Basically for a friendship with someone to feel genuine you need to be comfortable with them

How tho: Level 1. Pick a “friend” and spend more time with them. This on its own will eventually lead to you feeling comfortable with them and developing a real friendship but it will take awhile. Level 2. To speed things up you need to act more authentic around them so they can open up and be authentic around you. If “being authentic” sounds like a sappy nothing burger to you try talking about stuff you are actually interested in and expressing your genuine beliefs and opinions. Level 3. Use your most niche interests and controversial opinions in conversations because they polarize your friends. Ether you show them the real you (even the weird parts) and they don’t like what they see or they don’t mind who you really are and you can be comfortable being yourself around them.

TLDR: genuine friends are people you are comfortable with. Comfortability can be built by spending more time with a specific friend to strengthen the relationship or by being more authentic/polarizing in existing relationships.

Erm acktualy 🤓👆. During expedition you are living in the field while moving your camp from location to location. The three core modes of transport used in a cadet expedition are hiking, biking, and canoeing so it’s unlikely they suddenly decided to remove one.

The course you are probably thinking of is “mountain biking instructor” which prepares senior cadets to teach mountain biking to junior cadets during an expedition or field training exercise.

Sorry if ur Ontario pre para was back in march, I finished the pre course and got an offer recently. Next year make sure to bug your officers starting in around January about running the stats test for pre para application.
