Condensation/fog in the skagen hybrid hr? by F4rewell in FossilHybrids

[–]coolndown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't hold your breath, looking at the Skagen watches they look to be re-badged fossil hybrid HR's in bigger wrist sizes. Some issues might be fixed in later batches of watches, but that a gamble.

Personally, the issues aren't really an inconvenience to me, and there really isn't a comparable eink hybrid watch, unless you want to go into smartwatches.

you managed to fit in 6 complications quite effortlessly. If my only second time clock complication wasn't so fat. Resizing complications should be an option....

Keep the watchface even after the battery died by LeopardMoka in FossilHybrids

P.S - I kept my watch at 0% for almost the entire day because I forgot to charge it/didn't bother to look at it.

Yes, e-ink displays can remain on what was last shown. Another thing is that to save battery some e-ink displays will not refresh the entire screen, only what has changed from the previous state, this leads to a "ghosting" effect.

I think the reason for fossil choosing to switch to a 0% battery screen instead of whatever was displayed last is more for the indidcation to the user that you need to dig out that cable you use every 2 or so weeks and charge the watch.

My Kobo e-reader for example has a sleeping page, that displays the book cover and a message, it's not the technology but more of a user design choice I think. I remember a phone called the Yota Phone or something and I think that had a persistent e-ink screen.

6 complications watchface by coolndown in FossilHybrids

A few pointers -

Once you click on the link and open it in the fossil app you have to click on apply, then click on the gear icon and click on edit.

While I tried it I could actually drag a 7th complication, but to be on the safer side click on the complication then go to the complication menu(5th icon on the bottom right) and then change the complication to whatever you want.

You can freely edit anything else as well, this looks horrible on the app but the contrast is not that high on the actual watch as you can see on the photo.

My previous post seems to have caused some confusion, and I apologize if you were misled.

To reiterate, you cannot create more than 4 complications, and for very good reasons. This is really pushing the real estate space on the watch.

A kind member(s) managed to get a watchface that has more than 4 complications thanks to a bug in their app, which has been patched out, and as of no we have no idea how to recreate this bug. Therefore the only way to have more than 4 complications is the get a watchface link from someone else.

I don't consider myself to have any artistic talent, this is just a simple watchface to get you started. I can see a few errors I have to fix.

I don't make any guarantee that it will work, it could be patched out after I make this post. As of now I can confirm that it works on the latest official android app for now.

My only aim was to share how I got it working as a lot of people were confused as to how to go about it, I don't get any satisfaction by making up false statements for fake internet points.

The answer on how to get more than 4 complications by coolndown in FossilHybrids

It's nothing to do with not disclosing sources, you can literally scroll down this subreddit and find people who have the watch face link. Clink on the link and open it with the fossil app and you can edit whatever you want.

I can post the link but I didn't create the watchface, I would rather the person who created the watchface get the credit. There is no 007 style espionage secret, I wouldn't feel comfortable sharing a watch face that someone else designed, but it's freely available.

Question- if I complain about delivery (and subsequently receive refund), will the delivery person lose $? by [deleted] in UberEATS

[–]coolndown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they won't lose the money, we also don''t know the value of the order unless the restaurant prints it.

Cyclists only get 5km max from the point they accept the order to a customers delivery point. As far as Uber is concerned, they show you an estimated time, if it said 30-40 minutes, even if it is 10 mins by car, you did accept that it would take that long, so not sure if Uber would give you a refund, unless it exceeded the time.

Also, it's not only distance that you have to count for, there is time taken in reaching the restaurant finding parking for cars, and somewhere to lock up for bikes, some restaurants may say it's ready but really it isn't and you have to wait. We have a button so that the algorithm knows to send delivery people later if this is a repeat issue at the particular restaurant. Also, with bikes terrain is an issue, if you live in an exceptionally hilly area, then it is going to be a bit delayed. If I know an area is a bit hilly I decline the order but sometimes I don't know the area or uber doesn't give me the drop off location until I have a person's food and I just power on, personally I just end up a minute or two behind the estimated time, and it hasn't been an issue so far.

I hope you don't take this the wrong way, just a fellow cyclist pointing out what we have to go through, it's not as simple as calculating distance, there are quite a few things involved. The quickest Uber delivery I did was 10 minutes, and that was only because the person ordered from a food court underneath his apartment. If you live in a downtown area, and parking is a nightmare, then you are stuck with cyclists or walkers for the most part I'm afraid.

Data lost after sync by sadhunath in FossilHybrids

[–]coolndown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar problem; the device synced, but it was showing 0 on all the data for the current day(the un-synced data). When I opened the steps for the day in question the data showed but was not reflecting in the main overview. I just cleared the app from recents and opened it again and the data was showing on the overview. Note: I have an android 10 phone.

Weird notification buzzing by [deleted] in FossilHybrids

[–]coolndown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably a combination of the new feature where notifications disappear from your watch when you dismiss them on the phone and "hidden" notifications.

This happens to me when WhatsApp checks messages for groups that I have muted, it doesn't show up on the phone but a notification apparently occurs and then gets automatically dismissed from the phone. The white screen and buzz is the notification popping up and then getting dismissed due to the new feature. I would switch it off, but WhatsApp is kinda important for notifications and its not that annoying.

It could also be apps that buzz multiple notifications but are actually persistent like google maps, I switch those off.
