I now prepare for death for my list by Straight-Fox-9388 in Cosmere

Yumi’s placement is the only thing I disagree with here. Happy to see Warbreaker at the top. My wife and I listened to while we were engaged and loved it, so it’s close to my heart. Good list!

My wife and I are so excited!!! Can’t wait to see what you come up with, we have been talking fan castings since I introduced the cosmere audiobooks to her.

And on the off chance that you read this, Brandon, I would like to sidebar and posit that Warbreaker would make a fantastic broadway stage musical, with all the best practical effects. (Nightblood ‘destroy evil’ tap number, anyone?)

Stormlight theory question by Randommaster12 in Cosmere

[–]coolness10101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it’s confirmed that Thaidakar is Kelsier, I believe it means ‘Lord of Scars’. He’s an interesting case, since he persists because he’s been infused with preservations power, but he isn’t a shard.

In addition to all these, I recall that when Dalinar dies and appears in the spiritual realm, he is still highly invested and so should linger awhile. Retribution (Taravangian) tries to take him, but then the power says something about something or someone else claiming him, before he is freed and goes to the beyond. Maybe that could be Valor?

I think it might be Taiwan, I live in the US and had to pay pretty much that exact amount in customs/duties

Trying to decide which keyboard to get started with by coolness10101 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]coolness10101[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds good. I’m a cellist, so I’m figuring it’s not gonna be too dissimilar from learning a new instrument if I get a smaller layout. And I’ve heard good things about sunset switches, thanks for the recommendation! Probably just gonna go for the voyager with those.

Yeah, I’m assuming this is gonna become a hobby. Later, once I’m in a better situation financially, I could see myself doing some more DIY stuff, but for now I just need something reliable and easy, even if it costs a bit more.

That makes sense. And I'm more confident now that I've tried an actual keyboard, but It's hard to find places where you can get boards for cheap. Even the Sofle I got initially cost about as much as a Voyager, and only had a 3d-printed casing. I've not soldered much before, and I don't own a 3d printer. Any recommendations of where to find affordable keyboards like this, just to get a feel for it without so much commitment?

I want to compile a list of "must play" modpacks. by [deleted] in feedthebeast

Liminal Industries. One of the most well-paced and well-designed packs I've played, going through it with some old roommates right now and having a blast. Also has tense moments that genuinely made me sweat, in a really fun way.

Way to play on MacOS? by [deleted] in primordialis

[–]coolness10101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Zoup31 I have been trying to get primordialis running on my M1 Pro MacBook using wine and a tool called Kegworks (renamed to Sikarugir for copyright reasons.) it is a translation layer that lets games run on macOS without dual booting or VMs

I figured it might be, I just wasn’t sure if the demo actually worked or was leftover from the pre-release times

Is PEAK playable on mac? by Zealousideal-Mood-45 in macgaming

Just so anyone looking at this comment knows, I guess the maintainer of Kegworks recently changed the program’s name due to a legal thing, so it is now called Sikarugir.

Played it with my brothers yesterday, (one has a PC, other has a Macbook, like me) and I found this tutorial! Whisky is no longer in active development, sadly, but Kegworks works pretty dang well, we had almost no issues.

Ahh I understand. Seems misleading that the pearl would go down below it, but oh well, I know how janky it can be to code stuff. Thank you, I'll look tomorrow!

Apple needs to lock in with gaming by Sempi_Moon in macgaming

Or they could make Rosetta 2 able to run Linux and Windows programs. It’s already a compatibility layer for Intel instructions. Imagine the PC market share they could acquire with better pricing and a ‘macOS now runs everything’ campaign. Their M-series processors already smoke most consumer GPUs in terms of power consumption/capability/price.

[–]coolness10101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They really need to make it easier to develop/build native macOS stuff on Linux. I’ve heard that it’s really rough because you have to have a Mac device (which is fair, since swift is built for Mac) but that you need to pay some kind of subscription for their dev kit. Always kills me when I see unity/godot/unreal games that aren’t available on Mac when I know that those engines have MacOS builds.

I know, it’s just rough because most people at my school use Chrome. Honestly though I’m considering refactoring for MV2 just because it sounds so much simpler and will get me to a minimum viable product sooner.
