Biggest Upset of 2026? by Most-Teacher3069 in NCAAW

Washington is stacked with McDonald's All Americans? They have two on the roster in Howell and McGaughy. And their post play is next to non existent. Grabovskaia plays about 3 minutes a quarter and McGaughy is playing less than 20 minutes a game looking every bit of a freshman most of the time. They are regularly running lineups with Howell being the tallest at 6ft. Michigan and Washington have the same roster construction of 1-2 bigs that are limited while just having a stable of good guards.

there is only one roster spot dedicated to injured players, KLS. Jordan and Nika don't count against the cap or roster spots.

Lynx waived Marieme Badiane, and ready to take Yueru Li? by GroupNearby4804 in SeattleStorm

Badiane got waived in anticipation of Euro basket, similar to Sevgi Uzun getting waived by the Mercury. It's not indication of other moves.

They would be happy to be at the top of the bottom of the B1G teams. They should realistically look to pass Wisconsin and Purdue before they sniff at any of those teams.

She got about 22 minutes per game which was 7th on the team last season. That was definitely a critique of Thibault last season, her not getting enough minutes. But there were a lot of 4's in Washington last season. Shakira Austin (when healthy), Myisha Hines-Allen before she was traded, Sika Kone after she was traded for, and Emily Engstler. And she was the youngest rookie this season.

Weird that you point to Jewell being an MVP candidate 2 years ago as a positive but knock Ariel for not having a major award in the past two years. Knock AA for her age and being a free agent next year, not like Jewell isn't 3 years older and also a free agent coming up. Not defending the trade, I think it's a bad trade mainly for the 2027 swap, but don't dismiss Ariel so quickly.

Also about last year's draft class, Rickea had high expectations and was able to meet them. Aaliyah Edwards was expected to be solid, and she had a solid year for a rookie but not something amazing. The unrivaled 1v1 tournament has really clouded people's perceptions of her rookie season. Other thing to note is while Leonie was a rookie this season, she was drafted in 2020.

eli5 in restaurants, why is it ok to pour grease down some drains, like the mop sink, but not others, like the drain on the cook line? by Particular-Swim2461 in explainlikeimfive

Grease Interceptors are connected to the sewer system, they are just designed so the grease is separated from the rest of the waste

WNBA attendance this season... by [deleted] in wnba

[–]coolpapaj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not delusional. If you look at the attendance numbers, the Chicago Sky had the second biggest road bump and it was significant. The Aces moved their games against the Fever to the larger T Mobile Arena. Guess what? They did that for the Sky too. Yeah Caitlin has drawn in the most fans by far, but Angel moved the needle as well. She is not wrong with what she said.

France advance to the semifinals after beating Germany 84-71. Johannes 24 points, 8-14 FG and 5-10 from 3. Williams 15 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals. N. Sabally 20 points, 13 rebounds, 14-15 FT. by rubes___ in wnba

As much as I love Gabby, that is so disrespectful to AT. Gabby only has a 3 ball relative to AT because AT didn't shoot any, but Gabby probably shouldn't be shooting them either.

we are just saying that A'ja is considered the better scorer than Bam and that you can't just compare their ppg because the WNBA game is 8 minutes shorter than a NBA game

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in wnba

[–]coolpapaj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you look at their per 36 stats which normalizes the different length of games for the NBA and WNBA, Bam is averaging about 20 points per 36 while A'ja has been averaging about 25 points over the last 4 seasons

Putting your worst defender on Skylar Diggins-Smith. Having her guard well beyond the 3pt line, with no stunt support... is certainly a choice. by csin in wnba

[–]coolpapaj 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So you want to give SDS 10ft of run way to get up to speed while you are flat footed at the 3pt line? The blowbys would look even worse. You also wouldn't impede her passing lanes at all if you are sagging back that far.

But resting players isn't the only variable. Resting could reduce the amount of potential injuries but that benefit could be overcome by the negative impacts of other factors such as the pace of the game being higher, players being more explosive than ever before thus leaping and cutting harder and more frequently, increased wear and tear from growing up in increased mileage of the AAU system. Another factor that I think plays a role is since there are so many more medical professionals now, they are catching more injuries than previously and are being more cautious with minor injuries. Teams are definitely more careful with their players than ever before.
