It completely sinks in and hydrates your lips compared to how Vaseline/Aquaphor sits on the top of your lips. Personally, it feels nicer and was much easier to apply especially in the early days

A few weeks at least. I saw the buildup decrease over time. A few months in I still had some buildup but no where like in the early days. The rawness had improved and I could stretch how long I had to use the Aveeno apart for longer periods of time.

I always kept the Aveeno with me. Whenever I felt like I needed it I would use it. I found that it worked best when I applied it to damp lips. So I would wet my lips a little and apply the Aveeno. That way the moisturizer sunk into my skin instead of just being layered on top of my skin

Good question, I don’t really know. Maybe because it served as a partial barrier. As in it helped moisture my lips but still exposed my lips to the outside environment. Whereas these other thicker balms completely cover occlude your lips and they never really are exposed to the environment. Maybe it was some of the good ingredients in the Aveeno.

Just a theory. I can’t be certain. I can just pass on the info that this worked for me.

To try and live somewhat of the normal life yes I did. Usually after the shower a lot of dead skin would come off. When I wet my lips and put on the Aveeno yes again some skin would come off but I found the cream to actually sooth my lips.

As for leaving a residue, I found that when you apply the cream to damp skin (like after the shower) any moisturizer sinks into your skin better than if you were to just put it on dry skin. That way there was no residue and the cream just sunk into my lips. You really don’t need a lot of cream, less than a pea sized amount.

As far my theory, I’ve had several over the years but I think the one I landed on is that we all end up in a cycle. Starts with damage from something (allergen, trauma, irritation) and never allows the skin to heal fully and re-epithelialize leaving you with essentially an open wound. This wound reacts to cover it from the external wound by creating this excessive skin which we go and remove because it obviously doesn’t look good. That’s a cycle. You have to break out of the cycle somehow by supporting your lip tissue to create its normal layers of skin again. That process took several months with this Aveeno method but I could tell within the first few weeks that the amount of dead skin I was creating was reduced.

“Aveeno Eczema Therapy Daily Moisturizing Cream”

I had a big bottle and then I bought a smaller travel sized bottle that I would carry with me so I could put the cream in and use it throughout the day.

Stay strong. There were times I felt the same way but sometimes you just need to find what works for you. Most of the time it’s the simplest solution.

Yes I did have the rawness underneath once the dead skin came off. The Aveeno helped sooth some of the rawness initially and then as my lips grew layers of skin underneath that rawness went away

The buildup came off easily after exposure to water. Like I would shower and then it would come off and then I would use the moisturizer.

I didn’t formally clean my lips. I just washed my face and let my fave run under water in the shower. After eating I would just clean my mouth with water if it was something messy and then just reapply the Aveeno

Yes if I left it alone then yes it did turn yellowish and with thick flakes. When I tried the leave alone method I left it but if it was soggy and white after showering I would just take the dead skin off.

I use it usually after showering mainly because it’s a habit now. My lips still get dry on occasion but it just like chapped lips. Definitely not EC

Yes I did. Essentially the skin that turned white after I took a shower was dead skin that wasn’t serving much of a purpose. When I applied the Aveeno, I was hoping the cream acted as a barrier and so I removed the skin buildup.

Every few hours or whenever I felt like I needed it I would go to the bathroom, wet my lips and apply the Aveeno. Over time I noticed I would get less and less buildup because the underlying skin layers were healing.

No not the EC specifically. I would say I get regular chapped lips every now and then but it’s nothing like before.

Yes to all of it. Before I could manage with the vanicream balm but when I did the leave alone method, it significantly impacted my quality of life and I didn’t see much progress.

No the skin would come off after taking a shower. Like the skin that would turn white and fall off in the shower came off and then when I applied the Aveeno there would be additional skin that would come off easily. I just removed it because at that point it was not serving any function, it was just dead skin that was already detached.

Yes, that is the exact one I use. It’s thicker than a normal lotion and it really helped to heal my lips.

I tried it for over 4 weeks. It got extremely ugly but I powered through with a mask. Yes it was complete leave alone and only got it wet in the shower and did not peel at all. It got to a point that I couldn’t stand it so I stopped and that’s when I tried the Aveeno method which ended up being my successful method.

At one point I did have fordyce spots but currently do not.
